@loyalpromise sent: that was really adorable — From Swann Holloway to Kat Mikaelsen ✨
‘She hides like she doesn’t exist,
behind that screen made of glass.
But what she doesn’t know is I see her,
she makes my heart beat really fast.’
‘Eyes as bright as emerald,
freckles as captivating as stars.
I don’t know how tell her:
you’re more beautiful than you think you are.’
‘She can keep hiding from the world all she wants,
but she won’t escape my gaze.
Not me. Never me. Because I see her.
I only hope she sees me too through the haze.’
Poems had become a way for Kat to express herself when she didn’t know how else to; a passion she’d developed since reading Emily Dickinson's first ever poet book. Putting pen to paper? It was therapeutic. A way to escape into her imagination through a creative outflow of words. And while she was still an amateur at the art herself.. that hadn’t been enough to deter her from creating a poem of her own— inspired by her latest muse Swann Holloway. Now, Kat had to admit that she’d almost chickened out of actually showing her said poem, afraid that it was totally lame.. or too much. But given how eagerly Swann had taken the torn out page of her journal and delivered her verdict of ‘that was really adorable..’ Kat’s cheeks felt like they’d been set alight, carnation pink dancing across her skin.
“You.. really like it?” That was a relief. In fact, it was enough to bring out that genuine, rare smile that had been absent from Kat’s lips for what felt like an eternity. “It was actually inspired by you, if that wasn’t obvious enough.” Swann could make of that as she pleased. Truth was, Kat hadn’t just written the poem to get her feelings across. She’d made it in hopes to boost Swann’s low self-esteem if only a little.
