Me: time to do my monthly reading!
Me: [pulls The Tower]
This year, instead of doing my new year reading on New Year proper, I'm taking advantage of the new moon and I'm doing it tonight (bc IDK vibes or something, and also time.)
I have a small human, we sneak our witchy shit in when it makes sense okay
I'm going to actually share the yearly reading once I do it this time. Should be enlightening. Keep an eye out for the thread if you're interested.
I've done a couple of readings recently, trying to get some kind of footing on this unsteady ground we're all finding ourselves on currently, and which I haven't shared here - partially because I haven't had time to dissect them like I normally do. But today I felt moved to take it a step further, and rather than asking myself a broad question, I shot higher and asked Brigid what I should do.
For Bean, specifically.
(While I'm typically agnostic at best, I've had a few conversations with friends about deity work recently, and it felt right in this instance. I won't say more about it than that for now.)
Now, for context, I need to set the scene. It's 7am, a week after I found out that we just voted a dictator back into office - something which I had stupidly thought was a near impossibility, given everything. I'm watching my daughter sleep. I'm listening to a music league playlist, and Running Up That Hill (the Placebo cover) is playing. And that's when I shoot the question, and I draw.
Well, alright then.
I don't normally put too much actual stock in my tarot readings beyond getting my own thoughts and feelings in order, but I just looked over my 2024 new year reading just for shits and giggles and first: the fact that it marked May as a time for stalling and June as a time for great change really has me kinda fucked up, along with the fact that the entire second half of the year was marked for being emotionally difficult - which it fucking has been. But the thing that's really catching my eye right now is November/December. Ten of Swords and Judgement, just to finish the year off on a high note. And like I'm really hoping that it was just a snapshot of things to come as they were in that specific moment, but also I'm not so sanguine about my life not trying to become the worst timeline rn. So. Yeah.
September Readings
So, the other day I did a whole ass Celtic Cross reading for September, instead of my usual 5 card pull. Just wanted to get a little extra context and direction. But also, I wanted to take some extra time with it this month and really, really sit with what it was showing me. And I think that was a good call.
For context, I started with more of a general question than I normally might have: what's our general outlook over the next 3-6 weeks? (I prefer to give CC readings a time frame so I can differentiate better between the future and outcome cards lol.) I then touched briefly on the main points I wanted to focus on: home renovation projects, writing, relationship stuff, etc.
It was... a lot of Swords. I don't normally get them a lot in readings, so when I do it tends to make me a little uneasy - especially cards like Ten. But contextually, I think the overall message here was actually rather positive (and gently scolding lol.)
So first... the cross...
Your good bitch got a new tarot deck and it is real purty
Taking a deep breath this morning and getting in a little centering time. Naturally the cards/runes have taken the opportunity to read me for filth.
First, the rune: elhaz. Under normal circumstances, this is a protection rune. However, I pulled it reversed, so the overarching message here is that I should probably avoid making any important long term decisions today and maybe just go back to sleep until I feel better. I would love to.
The cards get more into the why of that: ten of wands is basically telling me that I'm overworked AF, which if you've been reading any of my most recent posts I think is uh. Obvious lol. Plus side here is that it also indicates a light at the end of the tunnel: I'm going to be able to lighten the load soon. Which I am! This is all temporary. Thank fucking God.
Justice is kind of a bitch in this situation because where Elhaz is like "maybe don't make a decision right now" Justice is like "okay but you have to." Which is... fair. So the lesson I'm pulling from this is that I need to take a deep breath and think things through carefully before I decide what I want to do long term, because it's important to bring some semblance of balance back into my life.
This is supported by our dear friend the queen of swords, who is politely reminding me to keep my eyes on the prize. What's my goal? What do I want? Make my decisions based on that, and not how I am currently feeling. Which is fair, because I'm currently feeling arson lol. Solid advice to live by.
The queen of cups represents feeling your way through situations and letting your emotions guide you. In this particular position though, that's exactly what's fucking me up right now. Reel it in.
Finally the emperor, which is just cool hard logic and leadership. Am I emotionally prepared for this at the moment? No. But I need to put on my big boy pants and get there because it ain't all about me. Conversely, this may also represent my partner, which... In this context is more of a cry for support. I'm going to go with a little of columns a and b, since I think that's probably the sanest way forward lol.
This is the tarot equivalent of slapping me across the face and telling me to get a hold of myself lol. Which... okay yeah fair.
The worst is almost over. If I need to find things I can let go of in the short term, I should do so after some careful consideration of consequences so I'm not having mental breakdowns in the pantry and getting into mortal combat with my household appliances.
...It's been a long month, okay?
Anyway. Here's hoping March doesn't suck ass. 🤞
And on a related note:
Well goddamn.
I was basically checking in about yesterday, and uh. Okay I'm feeling good about this.
Ace of Pentacles is... Well, the suit of Pentacles relates to the material world: finances and health, typically. And the Ace of a suit is normally a high energy card, all about new beginnings. And that's no different here. Successful new ventures and general good fortune. I can live with that.
King of Cups very frequently comes up when I'm doing a reading relating to my partner (usually either that or King of Pentacles) so I'm not shocked to see him here. He represents a balance between the logical and emotional self: compassion and wisdom. This makes sense in this context.
Finally, the Four of Wands. This one, the meaning of mine is slightly tilted from the traditional, but at the same time those interpretations inform each other, especially within context. In this deck, this card represents transformation, rebirth, and joy. Traditionally, it's still joy but more of a general celebratory vibe rather than the very specific "positive changes" bent that this one takes. Sooooo this is an extremely positive reading overall.
Especially when combined with freaking Dagaz, which is literally "dawn." Or the light at the end of the tunnel. Everything I'm getting thrown at me today is screaming YES THIS IS GOOD EVERYTHING IS GOOD YOU WILL BE MORE THAN FINE.
I can take a hint! XD
