It might be cheaper to drill a well into the water table and use a submersible pump. Other wise you will need a pressure tank, a centrifugal pump and an air compressor to get the water up the hill. The other folks are correct about the limitations of a centrifugal pump in this application. You will also need to modify the stream bed so that the intake is constantly submerged. What about storm flow. What about seasonal water quality problems? I say go with the well fewer problems relatively constant oval gear meter quality. You must push the water up the hill. Deep well jet pumps push water to the bottom of a well with enough excess energy to push more water back up.
However, one thing is clear, you need to use a pump and pressure tank configuration that will allow the water to be collected and pressurized as near to the source as possible and let the pressure PUSH the water to your house rather than try to PULL or DRAW the water from your house. This is physics.
What you wish to do is use suction to pull water upwards.
Since the human mouth can generate almost as much suction as a normal vacuum pump, you can attempt to draw up the water as in a straw. Using only a few dollars of small, stiff plastic tubing, you should only need feet, attempt to pull the water into your mouth. If you can pull the water to anywhere near the guesstamated height of your house, then you have my blessing to try to pump from there.
There is a reason the original pump was located where it was. Also note, depending upon where you live, there may be restrictions placed upon what you can and cannot do to natural springs. So, check that out, too.
You want the water to be pushed up
If it a spring, and there enough flow, it may be worthwhile going for a hydraulic ram, as the motive power for pumping comes from water that runs to wasteAs they are fairly simple you may even be able to construct one yourself, from some lengths of pipe, plumbing fittings, and inner tubes.
It seems to be sort of a lpg dispenser. Which type of pool is best, above ground or in ground? Above ground usually but not always means taking it down and setting it back up again with the change in seasons. Some people with above ground pools do manage to leave them set up with various personal methods. And more often than not, an above ground pool owner eventually feels the need for the added cost of some type of decking to make access to the pool less bothersome.
In ground ones requires a boatload of cash but are generally less complicated in terms of setting them up and disassembling them. But in ground pools can need repainting, repairing of cracks, underground plumbing and needs one heck of a lot of space. Some neighborhoods in fact do not even allow their home dwellers to have in ground pools installed. Those could all have a lot to do with the ever increasing popularity of above ground pools. And if you have an above ground pool, the trend now is to install in an above ground pool heater.
Solar heaters can not only make your carbon footprint a little smaller, it can make your utilities bill a lot smaller. No crazy electric or gas bills just because of your pool heater. Next to wood, it's the most frugal heater to use.
And where do you locate your solar panels? Lean them up along the side of the pool, place them in the yard or have them installed on the garage or house roof.
Just make sure they have direct sunlight.
The one shown here get's good combination pump , and will raise the water temperature up to 10 degrees. The pump circulates the water through the solar panels where it is heated and returned to the pool. A pretty nice set up. But we figured we would put this separate from the natural gas heater already mentioned.
