Lovely Rhythm - Chapter Nine

Chapter 9 "Damn it! Damn it!" Graham yelled as he threw the shot glass across the room. He cried and thought, "I'm so fucking stupid. I don't want to make the mistake I did four years ago. I need to be better, I have to be better, especially to Kelly. I owe her so much, so much" ■■■■ *Beep Beep Beep* The alarm rang and woke up both Cory and Kelly, they did it again last night. "We really need to stop waking up like this Kelly" Cory said as he got himself up. "I know, we're terrible people" Kelly frowned as she went to take a shower and Cory made some breakfast. ■■■■ "Kelly! Let's go! We're going to be late!" Cory yelled as Kelly rushed out of her bedroom and picked up food container on the table. "Thanks for breakfast, you're the best!" Kelly smiled as she locked the door behind her, "Crap! My jacket!" "I have another in the car, let's go!" Cory offered as they both ran to his car. Finally, they arrived at the parking lot of the office. Thankfully they weren't late. Graham sees them again, Kelly without a jacket but Cory rushed to her and gave her a jacket and a smile. They both went in as the rain began to pour harder and harder, with Cory's arms around Kelly. Cory wiped his forehead and wiped Kelly's cheeks and forehead as well, then they turned they see Graham next to them, sitting. Kelly walked over to greet Graham, slipping on the tile floor. "Kell, you're still super clumsy, be careful." Graham said offering her a hand. "We have to get started." Cory interrupted their little 'moment'. Kelly looked away quickly, taking Cory's hand in hers, as he lead them to their office. Graham followed behind, cursing himself and Cory for the awkward tension. "I'm gonna run to the snack machine, do you want anything?" He asked them. Kelly shook her head. "No thanks, Cory made breakfast" she raised the food container, "Cory we have utensils here right?" She asks. "Yeah, I got it for ya" Cory stood up from his seat and grabbed a fork and knife for Kelly. Graham came back with a granola bar and water on his hand, but before he entered he peeked in, "Say ahhh" Kelly said as she spoon fed Cory the breakfast he made, "You didn't eat this morning either" Graham cleared his throat as he came in, looking down, "I have a few songs I've already written and I was wondering if you guys can look over it, see if it's good enough for the album?" Kelly looked at Cory and gently wiped his lips with her thumb, "Sounds good, do you have them with you? We can start recording and arranging your songs" Cory smiled, "If you have them, we can start now" Jason knocked on the door, "Cory, I need you a for a sec" Cory nodded and left Kelly and Graham alone, "Be nice" he whispered to Kelly, "Shut up" she whispered back to him. "On your album, how many tracks do you want?" Kelly asks, starting to make small talk. "I think 8 tracks would be good, it be great if they're all originals" Graham said quietly. "A-are you okay?" Kelly asks. "Are you dating him? Cory? Why did you guys arrive together?" Graham asks. Kelly laughed, "What's with all the questions? You're not my boyfriend" "But I am your best friend, Kel" Graham said sternly. Kelly scoffed, "You stopped being my best friend when you left. If you have any questions about work, feel welcome to ask but if it's about my personal life, stay out of it!" "I'm sorry" Kelly stood up, "Your apology is four years too late. Be a professional for once in your life" she said and left the room. Cory sees her outside of their office, with her head down, hands on her waist, "You know you can quit this, Kelly. You don't have to do this--" "I have to do this, not for him, but for me. This is my job and I have to do it right, for me and my career in this business. Cory, please help me do that" Kelly said as tears started to well up in her eyes. "Shh, it's okay. I'm here for you. We'll go home for lunch, and we'll talk. Okay?" Cory hugged her and wiped her tears.
