Send “🌠” for our muses to see a shooting star!
Being away from all of the lights had left the sky in a constant dazzle, one that the kitten couldn’t ignore. He’d always been enamored by the night sky, but with the city continuously thriving, it was hard to catch a clear glimpse of them. When he’d been offered the chance to see them this way, with no filter, untouched and beautiful, how could he ever say no? And to spend time with someone close to him, who had at one time seen him at his best, worst, his slips and mistakes, meant the world to him. Even if he was the only one who held them now, it didn’t change the fact that it had happened.
“Whoa-” The word leaves his lips as a soft sigh once they lay out their quilt in the perfect clearing devoid of trees for a few feet. He ignores the vibrating in his pocket as he sits down against the soft material, his tail curling up comfortably as he shifts to press into Ama’s side instinctively. His ears perk up out of his hair with the subtle sounds of the forest all around him but his golden orbs stay tethered to the sky. Every star is glittering like diamonds in a dark sea.
“Enjoying the view?” Lu nods at the question, earning an endearing scratch against his ear, “I know how much you wanted to see a shooting star and I heard that this would be the perfect place.” Even if they didn’t see one, Lu would be content to sit there for a while and simply stare. He was a simple creature that way.
“It’s r-really amazing.. there’s so many now that the lights are g-gone. What if we really see one?” He asked, his childlike wonder knowing no bounds.
“Then you have to close your eyes and make a wish,” Ama explained to the little one, his own eyes peering up hopefully. And it only takes a few minutes of passing silence before they happen to see one off to their left. It came in a gleaming slash across the sky and Lu quickly shut his eyes closed and squeezed them tight, the only wish that truly mattered to him brimming to the surface.
“I wish for everyone I’ve loved in my life to be happy.”
It’s the first wish of two that he gets to make that night when they see another one, later on, sharing quiet conversation and hushed laughs while the stars watched over them.
