Luiseach's Diary: 2 Complete
Just as I anticipated the first day of school was nothing but trying. Between miscommunications amongst multiple classmates to learning I’ll have to be dealing with a “princess” all year long, this surely will be one of my greatest trails to date. As you may or may not know, a great start carries over with you for the rest of the day; well the same can be said for a bad day as well. It began this morning when I awoke from my slumber two hours late. Throwing myself into a panic, I ended up tripping over open boxes and tossing my unworn clothing all over the place!
I tried to keep an open mind. I really did. But as life would have it, things only seemed to go downhill from there. My good backpack was still over flooded with my carry on so I had to use my old, worn out once white, spare camping knapsack. My bike, which had arrived two days prior to our arrival, had both tires flat and a loose chain and only my father’s basic tools were left out leaving me to tear apart every heavy box in the shed. Needless to say, after scavenging the boxes, fixing my bike, and finally arriving at the school, the day was practically over with.
Thankfully remembering my bike lock, I parked it on a nearby bike rack and marched on. Once I entered the school (with a minor stroke of luck) I ended up bumping into the principle. She was an older lady, early 60’s I would say, plump but seemed genuinely welcoming. Apologetically she had to send me on my way due to some unfinished paperwork and conference calls, but she was nice enough to direct me to the student council room.
“Go see Nathanial; he’s your student body president and will be able to help out with remaining loose ends and scheduling. He’s been through the motions times before so he will be of great service. Oh, and a word to the wise, knock first before entering. Sometimes he’s caught up in paper work and would like to complete it first before focusing his attention on another matter.”
She trotted off and disappeared around the corner in no time. I took a deep breath and marched onward peering through open doors and the door windows. My search finally came to a halt when I spotted the room that had the student council sign hanging above it. Forgetting the advice given to me by the principle, I poked my head in and my eyes landed on quite the handsome looking fellow. I was almost about to open my mouth when the words knock before entering raced through my head as if a last minute attempt to put me back on the right track. I pulled my head out and cautiously knocked at the door.
After minutes of waiting the temptation of banging my knuckles against the wood had become an increasingly strong urge, but just as I lifted my hand, I heard an agitated “Come in” from behind the door. I gulped nervously and all of a sudden, almost as if someone had flipped a switch, my hands became sweaty and heart raced a couple beats faster than normal. Pushing the door open, I was greeted by the same handsome looking boy who I had only been admiring minutes before. His eyes were golden just as his hair and a small smile seemed to be braking through his obviously stressed out features. His clothing was the classic dress shirt and tie with pair of khakis; I noted that the tie was a little loose.
At first glance (well technically second) he appeared friendly enough. I wiped my hands against my pants and inhaled deeply before speaking up.
“Hello” I stammered “I’m Luiseach Chevalier and I was looking for Nathaniel. The, uh, principle said I should come see you about finishing off any of my enrollment papers and scheduling.”
He exhaled and murmured something underneath his breath. I thought I heard something along the lines of having, yet again, another added stress to his already full plate, but I couldn’t be quite sure. None the less, taking one last deep breath, he looks up from the organized mess on the table and properly introduces himself.
“Hello Ms. Chevalier, I’m Nathaniel the student body president, as probably previously stated by the principle. Allow me a moment to pull up your files to see what it is you are missing, if anything.”
I smiled “uh, Ms. Chevalier you say? No offense Nathaniel but last time I looked in the mirror I saw someone far too young to be my mother. “I paused and laughed a little “So no need to be so formal as I’m sure well be perfectly acquainted soon enough, seeing as we are enrolled in the same school and all.”
It was a lame attempt at a joke, but I went for it anyway. For a moment, Nathaniel seemed to be holding a mental debate as to whether or not it was meant to be taken as offensive, but decided to let it slide and smiled upon hearing the last bit.
“Very well, Luiseach it is then.” He pulled my file from the cabinet and opened up the vanilla folder. Giving it a quick glance, he was able to report back what it was I that I needed.
“Well, seeing as you have just arrived, there are only two things that you need to do. One is pay the enrollment fee of 25 euro and the other is receiving your student ID. In order to receive it, you have to head over to the photography center a couple streets down, they take care of all school photos and will be able to print out and give you a temporary school I.D. until the actual one arrives.” He paused and looked towards me “Any questions so far?”
I shook my head and gave a firm no. Confident in my own abilities, I requested the address of the photo center, took down some quick directions and made haste. All in all it only took me about 45 minutes and 30 euro to complete the last few task before heading back to the school. Of course it would have been nice to know about the small fee that came with the on demand I.D.
“My apologies Luiseach, had I remembered about the 5 dollar fee I would have told you.” I sighed and was only thankful I decided to grab an extra 20 euro before I left the house.
“It’s quite alright, trust me. Plus, I prefer the five over a 15 euro fee any day for those major names anyway. Oh and before I forget…”
I dug through my backpack and pulled out my wallet to retrieve the enrollment fee. leaving me with just enough to pick up a quick little something for the way home. “Now I’m no mathematician, but I did graduate from the first grade, so here’s the entire enrollment fee.”
“So you can count?”
“All the way to a hundred sweet heart and don’t let the other kids tell you differently.” I grinned from ear from ear and we both gave a solid laugh. It was turning out that this Nathaniel kid wasn’t as high strung as he appeared to be. Of course, it could have also been me attempting to break the ice earlier that put him in this mood but there is no way of telling.
“Alright, so everything should be covered. The last remaining touch is…” Nathaniel turned his attention back to his desk. The organized mess that had been scattered across the top had disappeared and almost everything had found its home once again. Not seeing what it was he needed on the desk, he made his way around and began searching inside the drawers. After minutes of turning up with nothing, he scratched his head, puzzled and sighed.
“Luiseach I need you to do me a favor seeing as I need to stay here with the open files. In order to wrap this up, I’m going to need you to find a paperclip. It seems the principle has taken the extra supplies for the day but usually there is a teacher or two still around so you might be able to catch one and ask. If they’re wondering why, just tell them it’s for your enrollment papers. “
It was the last thing I wanted to do much less do it alone. Not looking to start and argument on my first day, I silently nod and agree. With out a smile I asked a very simple question.
“So are there any teachers in particular who stay who I should maybe talk to first?”
“Not any one in particular no. So you’ll probably be wondering the school halls for a while. Like I said, I would come and help you but I’m not allowed to leave this room until all the files and paper work are back where they belong. “
“No, no I understand. You have to follow the rules you know.”
“Thank you. Right now though, you might want to be on your way seeing as the school closes within the hour and the principle hates to stay longer than necessary.”
Without further questions I took my leave. Shutting the door behind me I was left to wonder the halls alone. Oh how I wish I knew where to being.

Author's Note:
Yes, I've finally finished this after some-odd months. I'm actually quite proud about how this turned out and in the end, I only finished maybe half of an entry. I thought about making it longer but I feared that if I made it to long the reader would bunk out half way through and that's something I am trying to avoid. When the next half will come out, who really knows. All that you all need to be aware of is that it will have Iris, Amber and her pack, Ken, and everyone's favorite black head gone red, Castiel. That should be fun considering I will probably butcher his character seeing as I've always had trouble with rather snarky characters.
Oh and also how I'll be posting this on the website from my My Candy Love account LuiseachChevalier. The only difference between the two is that the one on the site will be a more edited version.
So until next time my lovely followers and all you wonderful MCL fans out there, keep on smiling and may lady luck be in your corner!
Love,
