I made no such assumption. It’s one thing to be the worker, it’s entirely another to be the patient. If you are mad, you should know that. You massively missed the tone of the original post. Gossiping is a way in which mental health care workers, most often neurotypical mental health care workers, enact *social violence*. Not outright violence, not physical violence, but social violence, also called cultural violence and structural violence. Mental health care workers are all too often extremely ableist and psychophobic towards us. Gossiping about us is a way in which they further the tropes that hold us back. It dehumanizes us and makes us into a spectacle. That is different from healthy discussion of the difficulties of the job. If you can’t “vent” without stigmatizing your patients, you need a new career.
