Jeffrey Goffman is an experienced presence in the health care sphere who leads Integrated Oncology Network, LLC, and also holds equity investments in growth companies. One of the companies Jeffrey Goffman has invested in is LunaDNA, which provides a unique, encrypted, blockchain-enabled way for users to share genomic data while getting compensated and helping progress medical science.
In September of 2019, LunaPBC, a public-benefit corporation that manages the community-owned health data and genomic platform, announced that members would now have the ability to access their electronic health records (EHRs) through application program interfaces provided by Medfusion’s patient data.
This is significant in that it will amplify members’ ability to seamlessly capture, review, and share their own medical history data in ways that are completely secure. This addresses a situation in which nearly a third of individuals have suffered from exchange of health information gaps when visiting their health care provider. It solves obstacles related to requesting, downloading, and securely uploading relevant health care data for sharing.
A key asset is that Medfusion maintains an extensive network of APIs that represent 700,000 providers and meet the needs of 270 million US patients. Being able to retrieve data from more than three dozen electronic health records provides a way of collecting records from a full spectrum of specialties, providers, and locations. With all the steps now automated within an integrated LunaDNA system, friction related to sharing one’s data is dramatically reduced.
