What are your favorite anime genres? And, what are your opinions on shows like attack on titan?
i think its pretty clear my favorite genres of anything are fantasy and sci fi. i love fantasy shonen but i think i really oughta branch out more. but its just so hard for slice of life stuff to hold my attention, even if i really like the concept.
attack on titan is cool. ive only gotten to like the second season but from what i can tell through cultural osmosis it devolves into a kind of race war, because the creator is an imperialist? or something? fucked if true but i dont care enough about aot to verify that. so many other good anime take up my time. ill get around to it at some point. i heard about some worm mind control plot device. epic if true.
overall from what i saw like 5 years ago, AOT is a beautiful show with a unique concept, interesting action scenes, and a well rounded cast of characters. the prose also felt fresh for the time. i think the strengths of shows like FMAB deal with intense subject matter in a compelling way, and that even characters youre meant to root for and empathize with can be complicated or even bad people, and almost no one in war leaves with their hands clean.
i didnt get so much of that tact from AOT but i still love characters like mikasa. the mystery of the titans is super interesting. i love war media but it also drags on my soul, so its not my first choice.
