i actually got to meet charlie cox and had him sign this for me!! so you can see that under the cut :) thank you sm kay for this it turned out so beautiful and it will be forever up on my walls at home <3 mwah mwah!

He doesn't want to die again. He doesn't want Lune to die again. And "want" isn't strong enough of a word, not really. He wants to beat this thing, this Eveque. Wants to ask Lune if she's found journals from any previous expeditioners, and which ones she had learned about Nevrons in. He wants to find Maelle and give her the tightest hug of her life, even as she calls him names and pretends she isn't crying to. Gustave is desperate to survive this. In the end, it's that desperation that helps him land the final blow.

Sciel wakes to fingers plucking a steady rhythm up the length of her spine.

She pretends she isn’t, lies still and relaxed to memorize the gentle tap-tap-tap, the crest of a nail gliding over her back. She can smell Lune in notes of sex and sweat, and further down, their legs tangle.

It has been a long time, and that might have made this a poor idea in any world but this one, where there’s too little to begin with. It’s Lune’s regret she fears; Sciel won’t.

“I know you’re awake,” Lune whispers. She pauses, briefly, then caresses Sciel’s back.
