“I’ll be fine, Rob,” she says, taking a deep breath. The Metropolis Kid has been operating androgynously ever since she showed up, laughing off pronouns and gender questions basically since she arrived on the the scene.
But this, she has to admit, is different. This involves Superman, and meeting him properly. She has her suspicions about Big Blue and her being related, after all – and she’s never really had a family before. She doesn’t know what she’d do if Superman rejected her. She doesn’t think he will, logically speaking. But there’s viscera deep down that scares her. “I’m sure it’ll go fine.”
All she’d really told him, after all, was that she’d be coming out to family. If he figured out more than that, well, he was a smart guy.
“Yeah, I’m sure it’ll go fine too. I mean, he’s like the nicest person ever, right? You got this.” He watched her for a moment before nudging her lightly.
“Do you uh, wanna rehearse or something?” What that something people did? He wasn’t entirely sure what the protocol was here. All he could do was offer support and dumb suggestions, really.
