Now that we know about Luz's Dad's death, that adds meaning to the name "gravesfield".

I thought it was just a spooky name to go in a spooky witch show, but no, it's a place of mourning for Luz and her mother. This show is about her escaping that unhappy environment, so that she can go on to do new things with her life.

It's about escaping grief.

I loved how Luz remarkably looked like a younger Camila with a fairer skin. Because I, myself, also look very much like my own mom.

But I gotta be honest, it also bothered me how Luz looked like a mini version of her mother. I mean yeah, I said I loved how she resembles Camila, but I didn't actually mean to be a carbon copy of her.

It kinda felt like a lazy design to be. Like, they copied Luz's face, aged her and gave her a darker skin...

BUT

In the finale, when we saw older Luz, I fell in love with her new design!

Yeah, Luz still looks like Camila. But now, a lot of her features resemble her father, Manny.

Comparatively more angular jawline, pointier chin, narrower face... And she even has the same hairstyle!

I can totally Luz standing in front of a mirror and be like "Wow, I kinda look like my dad now... Well, let's see how his hairstyle works for me"

And let's be honest, SHE'S SO GORGEOUS LIKE THAT!

I'm not sure if that's detail was intentional or not, but in any case, it was sweet😭❤

I saw someone on Twitter say Hunter or Gus reminds Camila of Luz's dad.

Like she's with the two and she sees them laughing or smiling or telling stupid jokes with each other and saying the phrases that Luz taught them that Luz learned from her own father, Camila look at them and maybe her eyes get watery and Gus and Hunter are immediately like "Mrs. Noceda are you okay? Do you need anything????? Did we do something wrong????"

Camila just smiles and pats their heads. "I'm okay boys, you just remind me of my late husband."

They ask for stories about him and she tells them all the sweet and funny things he did. It feels good to remember all the good times and Luz tells the same stories to Amity and Willow because just because he's gone now doesn't mean they can't remember all the times he was so there, so present.

On this day, August 22nd, Luz's father sadly passed away when she was still young. Since then, she and her mother would pick flowers for each other on the anniversary of his death.

Luz’s Dad Headcannon

OK so in Hollow Mind Luz said “Echo Delta Alpha”  to spell out Eda to King on the walkie talkie. This is the NATO phonetic alphabet, code talk with words starting with the 26 letters of the English language example: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, etc. What if her dad taught her that, like his line of work used it on the daily and wanted to normalize it for her cuz his job can be dangerous. Like “Morning mija, how do you spell apple?” and Luz would be like “Alpha Papa Papa Lima Echo” and he’d pick her up and kiss her forehead before going to work and now the image is so cute it’s making me sad ; ;
