Why does no one talk about the Golden Guard symbol being a literal Gilded Cage?
It's a bird in a stylized golden birdcage, right? Plus Hunter's mask is a stylized owl mask to really drive in the point that he is a bird in a gilded cage. Plus that one shot of him holding Flapjack -- a palisman who bonded with him after he admitted that he wanted more freedom -- while staring out an arched window that's similarly shaped to the symbol aka a bird cage.
Being the Gravesfield symbold also adds to Caleb Wittebane's story and Luz's. Gravesfield/the human realm feels like a cage. They feel as trapped in the Human realm as Hunter did in the palace. It also doubles down on the fact that the entire group is literally trapped in the human realm and the underlying stress of that just weighing them all down.
It's also interesting that Belos kept that symbol on the clones of his brother -- almost as if he's still trying to force Caleb back into Gravesfield/back into that cage. It hints a lot about the relationship between Phillip and Caleb.
I literally can't find anyone else talking about the symbolism though. I googled it looking for other thoughts. Am I crazy? Am I seeing things? I cannot be the only one seeing this, right? Is it just so blatant no one else has though to comment on it? Or am I misunderstanding something here? Am I delulu?
Just genuinely really loved the symbolism and wanted to gush about it, but I can't find anyone else who seems to be making note of it. It's probably one of my favorite metaphors/symbolism moments in the Owl House... but no one is discussing it.
