It was already such a long, and busy night for Laura; some important guests arrived today, and she had to make sure they are treated right since the big fish coming to their casino always meant money, and loads of it, and boy did she like the sound of that. She didn’t expect him, not in the slightest, but after he came over last time so she could sign some paperwork, and some subtle flirting since he was young, handsome and successful and that was her favorite type, they parted their ways. He intrigued her, even more so now that he showed up uninvited. “Let him in.”she mused and nodded in approval. In matter of a minute, the large double door to her large office opened up and he was let in by her assistant. “Mr.Montgomery, color me surprised. To what do I owe this honor? Mariana was waiting outside the warehouse in her car, glancing around to see if there was anything suspicious but she hadn’t noticed a single thing. She kept the car running, knowing when Marco got back in that he would want to leave right away. Her head turned in time to see him seemingly skipping towards her. She sat up a little and her hands moved to the steering wheel, taking one hand off to put it into drive. She noticed the blood on his shoulder and her eyes lifted up to his face. Laura had finally gotten dressed in the bathroom and came out, the two of them sat down and talked. Things fell right back into place like nine years didn’t pass at all. He had been sitting on the edge of the bed with her, his fingers on the side of her face, his fingertips playing with the strands of her hair and she didn’t know how breathe correctly. He was so close she could smell the hint of whiskey on his breath mixed with the minty smell from his mouthwash. Then his phone started to ring and an exhale left her, letting herself pull back. “You should get that.”

This whole ordeal, pretending to be scared and finally rescued from her life in a secluded lab was nothing more than a front. Her country made her strong-not a victim- and now they wanted something in return for that. Him, or at least a fraction of him. A child that her homeland could turn into a hero. A natural born hero.
