castle rolls his eyes, which is almost pointless since she’s reading and not even looking at him. but still, it feels good and he’s dramatic. “it’s called suspension of disbelief, beckett. it’s quite a popular literary device.” he pulls a chair up beside her desk, taking a seat and leaning back. “you’re the detective, tell me -- how is it possible to accidentally fall out of plane? the answer, i’m sure you’ll be surprised to know, happens if you keep reading.”

he’s only barely back into consciousness when her voice sounds in his ears -- far too loud for the headache that’s now pounding in his skull. first instinct is to sit up, but even castle knows better than to move too much with an injury. probably a concussion, which will be a perfectly valid excuse to his agent regarding the reason his manuscript is... fashionably late. blinking a few times to clear the haze from his vision, he makes a noise that’s somewhere between a groan and a sigh. “tell me it was cool.”

“hmm?” he glances over at the woman through the steam of his coffee, letting his feet slip back to the floor from where they’d been kicked up on the table, turning into a swift standing motion. “on the contrary,” the man continues, pausing to take a sip of the drink (which results in a moment of unflattering sputtering as the heat hits his tongue) before setting it down as fluidly as he can. “i was thinking over our latest case when i got inspiration for the next chapter of my book.” his features are excited, writer’s block sinking down the drain of his mind, before he blinks back into the current situation and kate’s expectant face. “uh, you were saying?”

“Oh no…what did we do?”|| For Castle!!

castle would be lying if he said this wasn’t how he woke up rather frequently. in fact, he’s woken up groggy and a little hungover probably more than a person should admit. live the good life, he can’t help it if he’s attractive. and at first, the familiarity in the voice doesn’t register as, well, familiar, just another fan of his books that got lucky. but then, suddenly, the full recognition kicks in and castle wakes up quicker than he ever has before, spinning around so quickly in the bed that he gets tangled up in the sheets and falls sideways to the floor, popping back up still tangled to see if he’s actually hearing what he’s hearing. and amid the surprise, a grin that is somewhere between amused and cocky turns his lips. “oh, well look who finally gave in to the sexual tension.” he makes a halfhearted attempt to stand which doesn’t get him very far, still smug. “because, let’s be honest here, it was getting kind of obvious.”
