GQ China June 2017
Ma Dong was the last one to talk on the topic of "should adults hide their emotional breakdowns" and it was the only one where the person talking said what I was thinking.
Like I want to live in a world where people don't have to hide their feelings, that they won't feel like they should hide it when they are having a really hard time-
But I have to. Because I feel so humiliated when someone (other than people really close to me) sees me cry or lose my temper or anything.
Like I envy people who can be so emotionally open, but I cannot. I mean I can tell the story later. I can write 70,000 word book about it if need be. I don't have a problem with people knowing I have had an emotional breakdown. But in the very moment as it's happening: no.
Like the mechanism of crying is supposed to help you release stress, but if someone sees me cry, I will only feel worse and the mechanism won't work.
I need to hide my emotional breakdowns.
The casual look with a hoodie and his hair like that suits Ma Dong so well.
