Mabando - PokeFalls Au - First Kiss (Valentine’s Day Prompt 7)
A/N: @provider-of-guardians, I’m only sorry this is kinda short. But you’ve already got a shit-ton of other requests in my inbox still so I guess you’ll just have to deal. XD Still, you know..hope it’s good.
For everyone else wanting context, this is the Pokemon universe where Dipper and Mabel have pretty much replaced the lives of Red in first gen. Mabel met Mermando in Fuschia and he wanted to save a sick baby lapras from the Safari Zoo (Cause no one listened to his opinion of taking better care of it). Call back to The Deep End, Mabel helps him and inevitably gets busted. With that said, I guess I’ll just set the “read more” link here.
Well here was the end of another criminal chapter in Mabel's young life.
She freed a baby pokemon from the zoo, discovered it was a pregnant dwarf subspecies that really did need release from captivity, disappointed her uncle, got her brother involved, and was basically sentenced to "house arrest" for a good few months since she was technically too young for any worse punishment than serious grounding.
But the good news was, she had a boyfriend.
Bad news was, she had to say good-bye.
And that was going to be hard to do.
Mermando was a great guy. In fact she hasn't met a guy this nice since...before she and Dipper split ways. And that was months ago. He was cute and funny and cute and cared a lot about pokemon...and was REALLY cute looking.
But time kept ticking by and she found herself standing on the beach to say good-bye. Dipper was saying good-bye to Pacifica, someone whom Mabel already shared farewells with. Ford was waiting alongside his charizard, ready to take them back home and talking with Gym Leader Koga. And Mermando was beside her, both hesitant, at first, to say anything.
"...I'm..very sorry I had involved you in all of this with the lapras.", he started to say with a sheepish grin.
Mabel chuckled a little and shook her head.
"Don't be. It was fun! I mean, granted, it's got us all super grounded, but still..", she smiled and brushed some hair aside. "It was great getting to meet you..and it was kinda fun."
Mermando laughed a little now.
"Perhaps..some day we can meet up again?", he offered.
"I'd love that.", Mabel beamed. "As long as we leave the heists out of it."
They both laughed.
"Yes. We should definitely do that.", he agreed and then smiled at her. "..I am going to miss you. You're so amazing and fun and caring.."
"Heh. Same.", Mabel smiled sadly. "I'm gonna miss you too.."
"Mabel.", Ford called to her.
She glanced over and saw that he and Dipper were already mounted on Charizard, waiting on her. Neither looked too pleased with her choice of company considering he got them all involved in a lapras-kidnapping.
"We're kinda waiting!", Dipper said impatiently, gesturing to their ride back to Pallet.
"Be there in a sec!"
Mermando sighed some.
"I should not be keeping you further from your family.", he said sadly. "We should really make this quick."
"I know, I know. I just- ugh! I don't want this to be 'good-bye'..", Mabel sighed. "You're like, super nice and cool and...and I guess it's gonna be a long time till we meet back up here.."
"Perhaps. But it will be okay.", Mermando took her hands and put on a reassuring smile. "I will wait for you here. I promise."
"..Thanks.", Mabel blushed a little and smiled.
Suddenly, before she had a chance to realize it, he dove in and stole a quick kiss. The action left her surprised. But before he could back away too soon, she cupped his cheek and guided him into a sweeter, more passionate kiss.
After a moment, Mabel pulled back and smiled, seeing his face was as red as hers felt.
"..Okay, that made this all so much harder.", she laughed nervously.
Mermando chuckled a little, but then started to pull away.
"Good-bye Mabel.", he said softly.
"...Good-bye Mermando.."
They pulled apart slowly, and then Mabel turned and walked to Ford's charizard. Their sweet kiss still dancing on her lips, even after she mounted and they took off. She hoped they would meet again very soon.

A/N: I still wanna ship Mabel with Mermando and it’s sad that there isn’t more for this ship out there. Simultaneously, I’m writing a Dipifica story that has this ship in it as well. Points of clarification, Weirdmageddon had not happened. It’s a bit of an au at this point, I came up with it before Dipper and Mabel vs the Future happened. Either way, hope you enjoy it.
"Alright then, Mermando!", 18 year-old Mabel said excitedly. "Are you ready to learn how to cook like a human?"
Mermando, who had been turned human just a few weeks ago to live as one with Mabel in Gravity Falls, smiled and came into the kitchen with her, rolling up the sleeves of the deep sea green sweater she made him.
"Of course, Mabel.", he said. "Ready when you are."
"Alright! So first we'll start with the easiest, tastiest thing!", she said, coming into the small apartment's kitchen and reaching into the cabinet above the stove. She pulled out the box. "Pasta Roni!"
Mermando chuckled as Mabel pulled out a pot and a measuring glass.
"Alright, so it's really easy! You just follow the instructions on the back of the box!", she said.
Mermando held it up and they looked over it together.
"Alright. I'll get the butter and you get the water?", Mermando offered.
"Yup!", Mabel beamed. "And then you just throw it in the pot see?"
He got the butter into the pot and Mabel poured in the water.
"Alright, so now we have to wait for it to boil.", she said, turning up the burner. "Course it'd go faster if we put it on high."
"This is easy.", Mermando smiled. "But..why does it have to boil? What is..boiling anyway?"
"Oh, easy. That's when the water gets all hot and bubbly.", she said. "But we couldn't touch it. It's really REALLY hot. It cooks the noodles that way so they're all limp and soft."
"Ah, I see.", Mermando nodded. "So is there something we should do while we wait?"
"Mm... Oh! I wanted to show you my new sweater!", Mabel said, pulling him back into the living room. "It should only take a second!"
She dug into her large knitting bag and pulled out her sweater. It was a deep navy blue that said, "Way Cool" with a bright orange starfish for the "a".
Mermando smiled brightly.
"It looks wonderful, Mabel.", he said.
"Hang on a sec, I'll show you how it looks!", she said, setting it on the couch and working on taking off her current sweater.
When she got it off and was setting it on the couch, she felt a pair of lips gently graze her shoulder, making her draw a breath and blush.
"I already know it looks good.", Mermando said gently, his breath ghosting her neck, while a hand carded through her long hair and pulled it aside and another one gently sat her hand with the sweater down on the back of the couch. "After all, you made it."
Mabel smiled, her cheeks growing warm, and turned back to face him as he smiled back lovingly.
"You're sweet.", she said.
"Not as sweet as you.", he returned and gently cupped her chin and kissed her.
Mabel melted some and simultaneously felt her heart flutter happily. It always did whenever he kissed her. She kissed back, and felt his arms circle around her waist to pull her closer. They pulled apart and chuckled a little while Mermando nuzzled her nose with his.
"I really kinda wanted to show you..", she said.
"Hmm, in a minute?", he asked, snatching another quick kiss from her cheek. "You look nice without a sweater too, you know."
Mabel couldn't help but chuckle and kissed him back. They kissed for a moment longer and Mabel wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek, standing on her toes to reach.
Mermando smiled and kissed hers in return and trailed kisses down to the top of her shoulder, making her giggle from how it tickled, and blush even more so. She pulled back and kissed him again and then they pulled back and simply stood there in each other's arms.
"I love you, Mabel.", Mermando said softly into her ear.
"I love you too..", she smiled.
"I am so glad we could be together like this.. That we could hold each other like this, never to be parted again.", he went on.
"Me too..", Mabel sighed with content. "..I'm glad Dipper told you where to find me.."
"Yes.. I do owe him so much for that letter he sent.", Mermando agreed. "Telling me to find you in California."
Mabel sighed again, a little saddened.
"I really needed to see you that day too..", she said as memories came back. "I mean, after what happened to Dipper a year before and all.."
Mermando could feel her tense up and hold onto the back of his sweater more tightly as memories rolled in and he backed up to look at her.
"I know.. Are you alright?", he asked, gently brushing her cheek with the back of his hand.
Mabel took a breath and tried to clear her mind. She smiled back at him, bringing a hand up to hold his.
"I am.. Sorry."
"It's alright.", he reassured. "I know....it can still hurt you from time to time.."
"....Yeah...", she looked down at the floor in thought. "...Well... At least he's a ghost now. At least it's not like he's...completely gone.."
"That is true.", he said warmly earning a small smile from her. "He is still with you. Even if it means he's a ghost. I look forward seeing him again on the next full moon."
Mabel chuckled.
"Me too.", she smiled more brightly.
Suddenly something caught Mermando's attention.
"Wait..", he said slowly. "How...long...does it take...for water to boil?"
Mabel's beaming suddenly fell flat off her face and the two hurried into the kitchen to find the pot was completely dry and the burner was bright red.
"OH! Ohhh. OHHHHH that's not good!", Mabel panicked.
She quickly reached over and turned off the burner, but she could feel the massive heat radiate off the pot underneath.
"Oh shoot. No no no no.. What do we do??", she worried.
"C-calm down, it'll be alright.", Mermando tried to reassure. "Ahh... What-what-what do we do?"
"Hell if I know!", she pulled on her hair. "Sorry for swearing but...!"
She looked around, grabbed a towel, doubled it, and carefully grabbed the handle of the pot.
"It'll be alright!", she tried to grin. "I'll uh- Uh.. Water! Cold water should help!"
She sat the pot in the sink, having to work fast as she felt the heat start to come through the towel. The moment that water touched the pot, there was a fierce hiss of steam and she quickly jerked it away and dropped it onto one of the colder burners with a small fearful yelp.
"Careful!", Mermando cringed.
"Shit! Sorry...!"
They carefully leaned over and watched as the bit of water quickly disappeared in the searing heat and shriveled up to a tiny small black dot that skitted about the rainbow-speckled bottom, as if dancing on its own will.
They stared at the pot in disbelief.
"So....", he said slowly, backing up again. "...What...now?"
"Ummm...", Mabel chewed her lip in thought. "...Well.. It has to cool off eventually. And then we'll...uh....look over how bad this is."
"Uh...right..", Mermando frowned a little more at the pot. "...Wow."
"Wow..", Mabel laughed awkwardly. "Wow.. Okay, sorry, I never burnt water before."
"I didn't even realize it's possible.", Mermando said in disbelief.
"Oh I knew it was possible. I just didn't think I'd mess up this badly.", she said.
They stared a moment longer and then came back to the living room.
"Alright! So.. Umm... First lesson in cooking!", she said, turning back to face him. "Always pay attention to what you're doing."
So yeah I've been watching Gravity Falls lately and I really love Mabel and Mermando's relationship so here have an older!MabelxMermando because why not
