How do you put a price on a home renovation?
It is important to know the difference between a quotation and an estimate
An estimate is basically a ball park costing, you might do it using a metre square rate or by gauging it against previous project costings.
NOTE an estimate is not accurate
The only way to do a quote is to first know what you are pricing, a design and specification so we know what it looks like, what materials and what products are being incorporated into the build, then we can add up all the quantities of materials, how many bricks and roof sheets, number of sheets of plasterboard, how many man hours will go into the build and even the man hours go into supervising the project.
That is the only way - and it can take many days even weeks to calculate this.
So when you have a builder give you a low ball estimate over the phone - don't be surprised that later on the costs blow out.
This is why Spannenberg and Son do our quotations accurately, we also offer a design service so you can be confident of what your renovation will look look like and exactly how much it will cost.

Underfloor heating in your bathroom This picture shows part of the process of installing underfloor heating and wet area waterproofing.
