Everyone is a Designer int he age of Social Media
The pages I'm picking are 40 and 41. When I came across them in a book about design and the creative worker, I was some what surprised of the branding of the creative designer. I mean, I guess it makes sense... I remember hearing that the office next to what use to be Steve Job's office was the head of creative design for the company's products. It's gotten them far, along with their push to let a "hack be a hack faster". It plays right into where the book talks about the amateur designing more.. As the books said, if you are a highly trained designer and have to pit your ideas against granny who has too much time on her hands and plays with Illustrator, and the company likes granny's work better.. granny gets the job. So all of this was going through my mind when I saw this first page. Then when I saw the following page of the spread, first it connected to the Apple theme, using i in front of everything, listing some well known products, but then also including it in front of other words like Do, Food, Think, etc.. To me, this was showing the overflow of the creative or the expectation to be creative into all aspects of life. Play and work are blurring more as what we do is suppose to be something we're 'passionate' about, and therefore, should enjoy doing it so much, we just want to do it all the time!... right. Anyway. I though this was a good layout to explain some of the ideas prevalent in the book.
