Stop Me If I've Told You This Story
Oh my god, I'm breaking out of my shell I can't believe I did this all by myself Imagine all the things my future could be If I could finally be happy with me
The Independent artist of the moment grew up in a remote town in northern British Columbia and was part of a 100-person fiddle orchestra at just five years old. Her early training was in traditional Canadian fiddle music.
Maddie Jay is a multi-talented indie artist now based in Los Angeles. Before stepping into the spotlight with her solo work, she played bass and sang on tour with artists like Lorde and Remi Wolf. Her background in jazz and production gives her songs a rich, layered sound—balanced portions of quirky, thoughtfulness, and sonically adventurous.
“Stop Me If I’ve Told You This Story” is a confessional alt-pop track that captures the awkward charm of oversharing and the quiet triumph of personal growth. It’s a coming-of-age anthem wrapped in self-deprecating humor and hope. Maddie wrote and produced the track herself, with additional contributions from Cole Williams, Bobbing, and Josh Shpak.
The song’s video, directed by Adam Alonzo, adds a dreamy visual layer that matches the song’s emotional arc.
Her “beat videos,” where she played every instrument and edited the footage herself, earned her a spot on Mixmag’s “Best Producers on Instagram” list in 2019. She’s the kind of artist who turns limitations into style and awkward moments into anthems.
