Lily was still drying off from her nightly swim, wringing her hair out into the sand beside her. The sun had not quite set yet -- they probably had another half-hour or so before the night really set in. But she knew her presence here was not a common occurrence, or it least it hadn’t been, when the jungle was still relatively safe and the Western Cove hadn’t collapsed. Now though, people were more likely to see her around.
She was weaving in a few shells into her braid when she heard the footsteps and looked over her shoulder, smiling at who she saw.
“Hey, you! Long time no see. What brings you here... to this beach... that we all live on?”
