And the whole lounging naked in bed together; reviewing intel and fucking, smoking and drinking all day is the closest Javi's been to feeling domesticated.

I want it to be mutual pining-ish but discovery of softer feels. Oh sure, the fucking is the same as it ever was (hot and rough, dangerous and electrifying, AND SOMEHOW BETTER THAN EVER) but now with a side of 'Holy shit I missed him' mutually. Oh Javi has slways been needy, but he never examined those feelings too closely. Horacio’s absence wrecked him in ways he couldn't have predicted. Javi missed Horacio's presence; the solid confidence of him, the thorough understanding of others, the knowing eyes, the sharp words and even sharper mind, the comfort of having someone to trust absolutely. But is Javi in deep enough to actually say any of it?
For Horacio's part, I think he's been rowing a boat up the river of denial (putting those back muscles to good use). He didn't know how deep this went until he couldn't have it. All work and no pretty DEA agent play makes our Colonel a very dull boy. Horacio finds himself missing not just the needy little noises but the vibrating bass of hearing Javi speaking in person , the slight uptick of his chin that's required to look Javi in the eye but never made him feel anything less than confident. He misses Javi's willingness to do virtually anything for Horacio and the eagerness with which said tasks were executed. The way the slightly taller man always fell into line just a half step behind him but never let it get any further away, the very slight possessive way Javi insinuated my colonel, the deference shown to him in almost all regards.
Suddenly and simultaneously they both realize with mild horror: Oh no, I have a soft spot. They have a weak link, a vulnerability that is each other. Only instead of closing up shop and shutting down they circle the wagons to become ever more fierce protectors and supporters of each other. Everything they do, the other has his back unequivocally (at least in public). Their schedules now match, Steve will just have to work around the inconvenience and crushing jealousy. Javi does nothing without Horacio's input and Horacio wants in on everything. If you can't find one of them ask for the other, after all they are attached at the hip in every feasible way.
