steve breaking the mold of “babysitter” and communicating his insecurities over being an “idiot” and describing his evolution into becoming someone who cares about himself and his future and others (nancy aside). and whether nancy specifically gave him a “bump on the head” or not, he insinuates that his time away from romance, surrounded by friendship, has made him into someone willing and capable of pursuing a loving, stable future. while still being the protector! going first into the dark! the first to throw a molotov! wow!
el and maxs relationship being a key force in prolonging/saving maxs life! the way el is willing to lay down her life to protect max as best she can (even before the mike speech), the way she remains by maxs side, holding her in the void after the battle. wow!
and then the brotherly love, the undying incorruptible support jonathan shows to will. the reigniting of a relationship somewhat damaged by trauma, the communication, the unconditional love shown there between them, oh my goodness.
lucas and max …. need i say anything really… i mean do i have to even say anything.
the joyce and hopper reunion! hopper reunited with joyce, the only person to trust him without faltering for so many years, a person he has saved time and time again come to save him, never once having doubted his goodness. and reunited with el! his child! his second chance at fatherhood, his girl who he hasn’t seen in eight months, his daughter who never gave up on believing he was out there. and it was such a beautiful moment!
even the sacrifice of eddie, no matter how “small” a sacrifice it was, to throw dustin to safety, to “buy more time”, to refuse to run. to go down in his well-deserved, metal blaze of glory. i understand why people didn’t love it. i can see a lot of the criticisms and i can get them. but i just wanted to share some things i thought were really positive and beautiful about the finale! that is all :)
