Cassandra: The mages have made their suffering known. The Templars never have.
I HATE the way she says this , like Mage suffering is a brand new thing, like the Templars suffer valiantly in silence while the mages have the luxury to complain.
No no no. No. No no. First of all the mages have gone hundreds of years suffering in silence Cassandra. They are the ones who were raised and conditioned and forced to suffer in silence , least they be killed or made tranquil, something Mages have explicitly made known is worse than death ( and something you convienantly hold the cure for but are keeping to yourself).
Second of all, mage suffering HAS been known for hundreds of years, it’s just that no one gave a shit. It’s not a new thing that the mages just suddenly started complaining about. It’s been common knowledge ESPECIALLY to you as a Seeker, whose main job is to keep the Templars in line. Don’t talk about it like it’s a brand new trend or something. It was ALWAYS known.
Third of all, this line implies that the mages ‘making their suffering know’ is not coming with any consequences, that they have the luxury to sit around and complain( something the game heavily implies Cassandra actually thinks seeing how she treated the Mage representative) when literally just announcing that they were going to be independent resulted in mass slaughter.
And fourth of all it makes it sound like Templars have it equal to Mages in terms of suffering. HELL NO. Templars CHOSE to do this. They can leave at any time. This is a job for them. If it’s so bad they can just stop being Templars. Mages can’t turn off their magic as they are so often told. They can’t stop being mages. They have to deal. Templars don’t. Don’t ever try to put Templars and Mages hardship on the same level.
If the intention of this line was to make me feel bad for Templars it failed. Spectacularly.
