Happy November! If you’ve been following me for awhile, you know I post about music all the time. I run a music blog that lives mostly here now (but will hopefully have another annual end of the year favorites post that takes hours and hours of creative writing and I have a feeling will come out maybe very late this year haha) and I’ve been sharing my New Music Friday playlists pretty consistently (and with great joy) over the last year! At the start of this brand new month, I also want to share one of my other fav playlist (I still like to call them mixtapes idk!) projects that rotates monthly. Every month, I take all the music recs I get from friends, family, y’all’s IG stories, music blogs, musicians I love, Shazamming set break music from touring bands, all the screenshots I take of songs, late night txts reminding me of old songs or tipping me off to new ones, EVERYTHING from EVERYWHERE! Cuz MUSIC is MAGIC and it’s all around us! I put ‘em all on a big ‘ol shuffle approved 🔀 playlist, and play it whenever I don’t know what I wanna listen to! I’ll be honest, some of it sucks! But most of it’s great! Y’all know what’s cool! 100% of the music that I recommend to people… I heard about from someone cooler than me! So follow along (I’m sharing the link on my story) follow/like/heart the playlist so you’ll have it on your sp*tify when I update it! I usually clear it at the beginning of every month and start over but I’m gonna leave this one up for a few days! You’ll find the songs that you recommended to me, a sometimes jarring mix of genres, and a love for people sharing songs they love! Music is magic. Honestly, that @leclairmegadef set at Globe tonight felt like a freakin @thewarondrugs after-after AFTER party. Drugs played a 2.5 hour set last night on the rocks (!), lifting off on the vistalite space shuttle and burning an ocean in between the pain & the rain & the waves… Today, Denver was 90 degrees again and september rained a little before Globe Hall hosted Switzerland’s L’Eclair on a Tuesday night for rock & roll. Their captivating set felt like a magical continuation. A celebration of the joy of music; shared together without words, across countries & languages. It’s all the same song you know? When you feel it, you’ll know. A river, coursing though. Seasons changing, songs rearranging… But always… music. • Thanks @thewarondrugs, thanks @leclairmegadef, thanks @globehalldenver (I’m officially in love with you now if I wasn’t already!) and you too red rocks, this season has been something special out there among the sunflowers. It’s another late summer weeknight at the ol’ Larimer Lounge! A band you probably haven’t heard of yet (but will in a year or two when they’re selling out bigger venues) is on fire playing dreamy, well written indie rock with an edge. • Tonight it’s @therubiesband, a trio of talented twenty somethings from Provo, Utah. They take the stage to The XX, they cover Wolf Alice; their songs alive with equal parts bittersweet dream pop & ferocious, uncaged rock & roll.
