The hat came out so big, I was going to make it into a bag. But its so absurd as a hat that its to amusing NOT to hat it.

It’s a Magikarp hat!  Paid pattern available on Ravelry [link] for 5.00 CAD.  

Yarns used: Uptown Worsted in Pumpkin (orange), Bright Yellow, White Glow, and Coral.  

The next time I make this, I will put the seam on the bottom so it won’t show; and may make the lips fatter.  I might also think about putting something stiff in the tail to make it stand up a bit.  

Since I don’t have a yarn dolly, I braided the “whiskers” (barbels).  I took three long strands and threaded them through one of the DCs where I thought they should go, and braided them together.  Next time I make this, I’ll position the barbels closer to the eye so that they stick out around where my ears are when I wear the hat.  For now, the braid makes it impossible to reposition without re-doing the braid.
