Thoughts on the leaked 8th gen Pokémon everyone’s talking about right now.
First, there’s no way it’s a placeholder at this point. It’s become available to people other than dataminers, is “catchable”, and has a fully textured 3D model with idle and attack animations, shiny form, etc so let’s get that out of the way.
Second, stop calling it a ditto evolution/form/mega just because the body is goopy. There’s many Pokémon that have similar designs to another. Luvdisc and Alomomola? Venonat and Butterfree? Tauros and Bouffalant? Nothing to do with each other. The Kecleon theory, even tho it did replace it in the datamine, also doesn’t make sense to me because despite the tail and stripe being the same zigzag and color matching for normal and shiny, that’s it. I know the lil guy is tiny but if you look close, the tail has two wires sticking out of it at the end.
I don’t think the design is stupid at all. The way I see it, it’s actually quite genius and I’ve been wanting a Pokémon like this for some time and I’m very excited to see one that’s this adorable.
The grey body reminds me of magnetic putty. Which makes even more sense since the nut is metallic and the wire tail probably has metal in it too.
The eye is probably floating due to magnetism, so I don’t agree with the secondary psychic and ghost types people are guessing. I feel like it’s pure steel personally, tho who knows with gamefreak. Also I wouldn’t be surprised if the main body is it’s eye and it’s able to control everything with a magnetic force.
Sure we have other magnetic Pokémon like Magnemite but we’ve never really seen one based on magnetic putty or repelling magnetic forces and that has me extremely excited for the possibilities.
Could the design have been better? Of course. Is it bad? I don’t think so. And this may be a stretch of a theory but I’ve heard this Pokémon could also be related to “Saturn’s Hexgaon” which is now a golden color.
Anyway no matter what it ends up being, my current thoughts on it make me very excited. The other credible theories I wouldn’t be happy with are it being an ultrabeast or something like a zygarde cell unless that’s done more properly. But I would be very excited if it turns out to be a new alien space Pokémon (which we need more of, please) with magnetic properties.
