Bring Your Kid to Work Day; Closed
Philip seemed excited. The five-year old was bouncing off the walls all morning as Alex got them both ready for work. He'd demanded that he wear a suit like Alex, so out came his Easter clothes to dress him up. Despite his tie being clip-on, Philip still pretended to adjust it in the full-length mirror in Alex's room while Alex tied his own.
"Adorable" was not enough to describe the scene.
He got Philip a cup of "coffee"--hot chocolate-- from the coffee store one block away from work so they could walk in. The boy did everything he could to walk just like his dad, and talk like him; he failed, of course, but that didn't mean he didn't have the lady at the front desk pretending to swoon for him when he tried his best to wink, but only managed a normal blink. It made him giggle, and Alex didn't bother stifling the loving smile. His little boy, so precious and trying so hard to act like an adult and ugh, he wished he could pull out his phone and record this. Eliza would get a kick out of it, as would John.
When they got to his office, Alex set down his bag and pulled up an extra chair to his desk. "You can have the office chair. It'll suit you better." And he'd have the visitor's seat. Alex was starting to tug out coloring books and toys to help keep the boy busy while Alex got some work done when he heard a knock on his office door.
