You can start with Poly felt covers and when the surface shows wear  (any where from 3 months to 6 months ) - we recommend saving the used felt cover as the pad for that most preferred upgrade - Speed lite.

Option 2 - SPEED LITE - Speed lite is not felt.. it is a polyester linen - it is rather smooth, you can play on it all day long.  It is machine wash, machine dry and comes in a lot of colors.  It will not peel, pill, flake, fuzz or tear.  A pad is preferred under the speed lite cover.It works best with a used poly felt cover as the pad, or with a free floating pad disk.  On covers that are 60" or larger - there is a splice of fabric added for the first cut on one edge.  It lays flat and rests on the edge of the table and does not interfere with play.

SUEDE ALUR - THE ANWSER!
