besties I need to redesign maeve now
I loved iced coffee so much (and regular coffee, and all coffee) that I decided to experiment with making cold brew coffee. After some googling around, I settled on the Pioneer Woman Recipe for it, and yes you need a recipe because it’s not as simple as making a pot of coffee and putting it in the fridge. I mean, I guess yo *could* do that but apparently it’s not as good.
So I got a big jug - one of those plastic containers you’d take to a picnic, with a spout on it - and dumped a pound of Dunkin’ Donuts French Vanilla in there. Because I like flavored coffee (especially iced), however I don’t like adding stuff to my coffee like sugar, cream, etc. Well, once in a while, depends on my mood, but I usually prefer it black.
I added 8 quarts of water and let it sit. Except - and I think this was my mistake - I did this around 5:00 PM one day, and I didn’t have time to do anything with it until around 6:00 PM the day after. So Ree says you should let it “brew” for 8 hours, and mine went over 24 hours. But I like strong coffee so, whatever.
Getting it from the jug through a filter was the hardest and messiest part, because you basically have a pound of coffee grounds sitting in this water. This is the sole reason that I won’t do this again until I find a better container. Or maybe I need to make smaller batches, I don’t know.
But anyway, today was the test - I took a travel mug full of it for my commute to work. Overall it was really tasty, though it was very strong. I’ll drink the rest but will rethink future endeavors - from the timing to the materials to the amount made.
This wasn’t really post-worthy but hey, deal with it.
I'm so tired but I only have a page left of this fic to write someone make me coffee
