Allison had been mad at first. Once she had gotten over the shock of remembering it all, she’d realized that her dad had kept these memories from her. He’d gotten her friends to lie to her, to pretend like they hadn’t known her. He’d told her she was in a coma. Then her rational brain had taken over and she remembered how she’d reacted to her first interaction with Lydia. She hadn’t believed a thing. And now she realized her dad was just trying to protect her from the danger. It had gotten her killed once and after losing his wife, of course he didn’t want to lose his daughter again.
She opened the door to their apartment and took a deep breath, swallowing thickly. His office door was closed but his car had been downstairs so she knew he must be in there. She knocked on the door quietly and stuck her head in, eyes wide. “Daddy?” she asked quietly, chewing on her lower lip. She’d already done so much crying but she knew she was just going to start all over again.
