In which I make a vow that goes against everything this blog stands for
In the course of moving I have discovered that I have SO MUCH COSMETIC SHIT. Lotions, soaps, makeup, a truly staggering amount of lip balm. It's insane. I need a new bureau to hold it all. It's horrible. It has gone past thing I like" to "thing that is actually making my life dumber." And so! I am passing a new personal rule: I will not buy any new cosmetic things until I am out of the ones I have. Meaning! No new mascara until I have NO MASCARA LEFT. No new lotion until I am ACTUALLY OUT OF LOTION. No new nail polish (oh god). No candles just cuz they seem cute when I have like 12 candles sitting on a shelf (candles are a cosmetic, did you know?) I started this yesterday and then I went to Whole Foods and it was already really hard, but I think this is a good idea and I'm doing it.
Rules: I may throw things out if they are gross/I really don't want to use them, but I have to THROW THEM AWAY not just shove them back in a drawers. I can buy new things if I have run out of the old thing. Run out meaning, I have no eyeliner in my possession not, I've run out of the black eyeliner I like but I have four kinds of brown and they all look the same. I am doing this until I feel better about myself, my effect on the earth, and the amount of stuff I will have to pack next time I move. Join me?
