The Golden Compass starters ;
@mako-muses asked “The universe is full of intentions, you know. Everything happens for a purpose.” ((Ignis to Iris))
It’s been six years since Noctis went into the crystal, six years since the world became blanketed in this nonstop night, this ever-present darkness, and since then, in the duration of those years spent in between aiding those in need and rising to the title of Daemon Slayer, Iris has come to learn that... some things definitely tend to have a shitty outcome. Whether or not it's all for an actual purpose, though...
The youngest Amicitia looks up at Ignis, fixes her gaze on him for a moment, and presses her lips into a thin line in thought. Her gaze rests in particular on the scarring over his left eye, and not for the first time does Iris feel a twinge of... not pity, but rather pain, on his behalf. She knows his ties to Noctis, just as she knows her brother’s, and the way that what he did for Noctis was out of that sheer loyalty, the kind not... really found in any other kind of heart, and not really born out of any other kind of bond.
The reason for a price such as the one Ignis paid at the time.
It still had to have hurt at the time, regardless. Even despite that price, though, Ignis never let the loss of his vision slow him down. He’d continued on. And admittedly, it's something Iris admires him for.
"Iggy, tell me something," she says softly after a moment, wrapping her fingers around the bottle of liquor she has resting nearby and lifting said bottle to take a swig before setting it back down and speaking again. "I'm curious. Do you actually believe that it's everything for a reason? Or just... some things?"
By now she's seen her fair share of combat — whether it's been on her own, or alongside her brother, or alongside Cor... she hasn't seen Prompto in some time. But last Iris heard, the guy was holding up on his own alright — and to accompany, her fair share of stories as well as scars now, too, at that. All things considered, if every scar has a story to go with it—
"Actually, let me rephrase, I'm sorry. Do you believe it's the bigger things, like our life-changing decisions, or is it every smaller detail that has its purpose, too?"
