Hello, hello! Sorry for the abrupt question, but, what is the official language of Glaedreon (or for Glae if everyone speaks the same thing)? I might've overlooked it and missed it and I apologize. I'm just checking as my OC isn't from there and I need to figure out if she at least understands some things (and how to work it out)!~
That’s quite alright! We implore you to ask away!
Natives to Glaedreon are able to speak both English and Latin! Although there is a mix of languages and communication standards between residents of Glaedreon, Latin is the root of all languages and something all races could communicate with. But a majority during these modern times of Glaedreon speak English, since it’s a growing language that everyone seems to understand just as well as Latin.
If your character isn’t able to understand or speak either/or, we have an alternative! In Glae, there is a special potion noted as a Serpret. A Serpret is easy to make and available to all residents ( your character ). This potion is taken orally and used to help your character lift that communication barrier; i.e., Serpret will allow you to understand what another individual is saying if you do not understand that specific language ( and they’ll be able to understand you as well )! Nifty right? The only side effect, is that it may cause your tongue to swell for a few days and may make your skin a little blue. But it’s a good price to pay, right?
Of course this is only an alternative and the choice is yours whether or not you want to take it!
Hello, hello! I have a question in regards to the beastiary and was wondering about the possible choices that are seaside related! Would beasts like selkies and sea serpents be possible for applications? As well, how does magic work in the land of Glae? Does the majority of the natural population have magic? is it something that can be honed or you must be born with the gift of magic, etc? And, can you elaborate on the Dragon-Human dynamic in Glae's society? Thank you~ :D
Hello! Thanks for reaching out. Yep, selkies and sea serpents are welcome! The current beastiary is there as a list of suggestions, but we encourage everyone to bring their own ideas that fit within the theme. Magic is literally everywhere in Glae. Generally, the entire population has access to it or lives with it to a certain extent, and it depends on the type of creature that your character is. For instance, dragons will naturally be born with magic and generally have a higher level of proficiency than humans, who generally are not born with magic. That does not mean that a human could not learn to harness magic for themselves. Anyone can learn magic (humans can train to become witches/wizards/etc.) and just like any other pursued interest, their proficiency will improve with how dedicated they are. Furthermore, an individual who is heavily influenced by magic will have an advantage over someone who isn’t, regardless of race (A dragon who is born and grows up around non-magic using humans will have stunted magical growth, but they could learn it later on. Or not, for instance.)So to answer your question if it’s honed or if they’re born with it, it’s a bit of both? Individual circumstances will be the ultimate deciding factor about how magically inclined your character is. We’re pretty lenient about this stuff so it’s up to you how you’d like to approach it! Humans and dragons are neutral towards each other for the most part, specifically where they live together in larger cities. The consensus seems to be, we don’t have to like each other, but we have to work together, just like any large society! Dragons (hopefully) won’t go attacking humans outright, but there will be the individual or group here and there that will see themselves as better than humans. Others might not bother with humans at all. Outside of the cities, some dragon clans are exclusive and keep to themselves anyway, so there might even be a chance that humans will never come across these dragons. As far as the different affiliations, certain members of the Black Dragon might be hostile towards humans, while the Order and the Resistance will be more welcoming. Of course, there will always be exceptions! Hopefully this clears things up for you, but do feel free to come back with any other questions you have!
Good evening! Milae Greylin is ready for the world of Glae and may not be ready for war! Her app may be found under the "lore" button! :D
