             ❛      how're  you  ?     ❜        zeppelin  asked  as  he  looked  over  at  malcolm  .  zeppelin  knew  if  he  was  going  𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐀𝐍𝐄  . . .  malcolm  had  to  be  losing  his  shit  on  the  inside  as  well  .  well  ,  that's  all  he  could  assume  being  that  the  two  didn't  really  speak  about  chris  or  what  had  happened  to  him  .  they  didn't  speak  of  the  past  as  much  as  they  possibly  should've  .  instead  ,  focusing  on  the  future  .  perhaps  ,  it  helped  that  they  didn't   become  close  until  after  .  either  way  ,  it  was  too  hard  to  𝐈𝐆𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐄  now  .         ❛       you  know  ,  i  believe  that  that  tape  was  nothing  ,  right  ?     ❜         people  were  getting  dares  now  . . .  doing  things  he  knew  they  probably  didn't  want  . . .  or  . . .          (       was  that  just  him  ?      )          .  no  ,  it  couldn't  have  been  just  him  . . .  zeppelin  being  specially  picked  out,  singled  out  ?  no  . . .  there  was  nothing  𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋  about  him  . . .  he  couldn't  be  the  only  one  . . .  lips  pressed  together  as  if  his  thoughts  were  out  loud  .  a  𝐒𝐄𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐓  he  felt  he  still  had  to  keep  to  himself  .          ❛      if  anyone's  gonna  have  your  back  through  this  ,  i  will  .  okay  ?  promise  .     ❜         and  that  was  true  .  zeppelin  was  a  lot  of  things  and  at  times  ,  his  words  were  just  dust  in  the  wind  but  he  did  mean  it  when  it  came  to  those  he  cared  about  .         ❛      it's  clear  someone's  messing  with  all  of  us  .  trying  to  get  us  to  all  turn  against  each  other  and  assume  things  .  make  everyone  look  bad  .     ❜

             ❛     you  can  cut  the  bullshit  about  that  tape  .  i  don't  care  what  you  did  or  didn't  do  with  helena  .  but  if  there's  one  thing  we  can  agree  on  ,  it's  that  we  need  to  get  that  tape  .     ❜        it  took  a  lot  for  kai  to  suck  up  his  pride  and  try  and  get  malcolm  to  work  with  him  . . .  the  way  he  clenched  his  jaw  slightly  when  finishing  what  he  was  saying  being  a  perfectly  𝐂𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐑  sentiment  to  that  statement  .        ❛      help  me  and  i  can  make  the  rumors  going  on  about  you  and  helena  disappear  .      ❜          lie  or  not  ,  kai  didn't  really  care  .  he  wasn't  exactly  doing  any  of  this  to  𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐏  malcolm  .  for  all  he  cared  ,  the  guy  could  rot  after  this  .         ❛      having  the  brother  of  the  dead  kid  on  your  side  could  go  far  ,  trust  me  .     ❜        the  subject  of  his  brother  getting  harder  and  harder  to  run  away  from  .  that  being  said  ,  he  felt  if  he  just  didn't  say  his  name  . . .  there  would  still  be  this  disconnect  in  his  head  .  a  shield  in  front  of  himself  .         ❛      so  ,  you  in  ?     ❜

               it'd  felt  like  forever  since  luciana  had  been  back  in  lincoln  city  but  alas  ,  here  she  was  .  here  a  lot  of  them  were  .  maybe  it  was  strange  . . .  the  way  luciana  𝐀𝐕𝐎𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐃  and  pushed  away  all  the  thoughts  and  feelings  that  were  attached  the  the  chaos  going  on  around  them  and  instead  living  her  day  to  day  back  in  lincoln  city  like  she  came  back  for  a  little  visit  .  a  little  vacation  .  going  shopping  ,  catching  up  with  old  friends  and  smiling  from  ear  to  ear  .  but  honestly  ,  the  girl  didn't  know  how  to  go  in  any  other  mode  when  she  was  showing  herself  ,  presenting  herself  to  the  world  .  feeling  like  she  had  to  keep  up  appearances  ,  always  and  forever  .  something  she'd  grown  up  doing  .  her  family  falling  to  pieces  ,  everything  blowing  up  left  and  right  but  she  had  to  keep  that  smile  on  her  face  for  the  rest  of  the  world  .  did  that  mean  she  wasn't  freaking  out  ?  that  she  wasn't  𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐃  or  full  of  panic  ?  not  at  all  . . .  if  anything  ,  luciana  was  a  ticking  time  bomb  .  but  . . .  not  yet  .         ⏤        bringing  the  straw  of  her  smoothie  up  to  her  lips  .  luciana  took  a  sip  before  stopping  when  seeing  the  familiar  face  .         ❛     oh  my  gosh  ,  malcolm  !  it's  been  such  a  long  time  !     ❜        she  smiled  ,  again  . . .  it  could've  been  weird  with  everything  going  on  .  seemingly  ,  there  was  so  much  to  talk  about  other  than  the  surface  level  hello's  ,  but  here  they  were  .  luci  always  being  the  type  of  person  then  and  now  that  was  friendly  ,  bubbly  and  kind  to  anyone  around  her  .          (       or  that  was  the  appearance  she  liked  to  be  perceived  as  .      )

         being  back  in  this  godforsaken  town  really  was  the  last  thing  kai  had  ever  wanted  .  back  leaned  up  against  one  of  the  walls  of  the  outside  of  the  convenience  store  .  𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒  flashing  in  his  head  of  all  the  times  he  was  just  a  kid  ,  leaning  up  against  that  same  wall  .  his  turn  as  look  out  while  one  of  his  buddies  wandered  in  and  stole  the  first  six  pack  in  reachable  distance  before  running  off  to  drink  it  near  the  lake  . . .          (      fuck  that  lake  .     )          all  of  it  really  did  feel  like  a  different  lifetime  .  kai  doing  his  best  to  get  as  far  as  possible  from  that  town  and  the  people  that  lived  in  it  .  a  plan  that  was  going  swimmingly  before  he  was  𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐃  there  from  whatever  bullshit  was  happening  around  there  .          ⏤        the  other  clearly  minding  their  own  business  ,  kai  glanced  up  and  noticed  malcolm  walking  by  .  unable  to  help  the  almost  amused  scoff  that  fell  from  his  lips  ,  kai  pushed  himself  up  and  away  from  the  wall  in  order  to  get  the  other  males  attention  .         ❛      malcolm  fucking  wright  ,  in  the  flesh  .     ❜          perhaps  ,  malcolm  was  someone  kai  didn't  want  to  interact  with  .  fully  aware  that  he  was  the  best  friend  of  his  beloved  brother  .  kai  𝐃𝐈𝐃𝐍'𝐓  avoid  much  ,  but  when  it  came  to  topic  of  his  brother  ,  he  barley  even  muttered  his  name  .  hell  ,  he  ran  off  just  to  avoid  ever  having  to  speak  his  name  or  think  about  him  .  but  alas  ,  if  he  saw  something  he  could  stir  up  . . .  he  couldn't  stay  away  .         ❛     what  ?  no  hug  ?  haven't  seen  me  in  years  and  i  don't  even  get  a  proper  greeting  ?     ❜         kai  spoke  ,  sarcasm  dripping  from  his  words  .  the  male  fully  aware  that  in  the  past  ,  he  𝐖𝐀𝐒𝐍'𝐓  malcolm's  biggest  fan  .  but  that  was  the  point  ,  wasn't  it  ?  part  of  the  fun  .  part  of  the  game  .

            malcolm  and  zeppelin  didn't  really  speak  back  in  high  school  .  the  two  not  really  becoming  friends  until  their  more  𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐓  years  .  malcolm  popping  up  in  town  off  and  on  ,  the  two  ended  up  running  into  each  other  and  ever  since  ,  zeppelin  was  glad  to  say  he  had  a  friend  .  an  actual  loyal  ,  good  friend  that  was  more  than  likely  good  for  him  .  the  catch  that  zeppelin  felt  as  though  ,  with  all  the  time  passed  they  wouldn't  really  have  to  talk  about  was  the  chris  of  it  all  .  knowing  that  malcolm  was  close  friends  with  the  missing  kid  . . .  meanwhile  ,  zeppelin  had  went  around  telling  people  he  was  good  friends  with  chris  but  really  hardly  knew  him  .  zeppelin's  𝐃𝐄𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐄  attempt  to  try  and  protect  everyone         (     including  himself  ,     )         from  the  secrets  they  were  all  holding  in  about  chris  wilder  .  nevertheless  ,  the  subject  had  never  fully  came  up  between  malcolm  and  zeppelin  . . .  some  things  were  the  past  and  some  were  the  present  . . .  right  ?  ...  not  exactly  with  that  new  message  going  around  and  reunion  sneaking  up  on  them  .  another  thing  to  add  to  the  list  of  things  zep  was  freaking  out  about  . . .  the  𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐑  that  all  this  was  about  to  explode  in  their  faces  and  there  was  a  chance  his  lies  would  bite  him  in  the  ass  . . .  that  malcolm  would  be  upset  with  him  and  the  one  person  that  he  managed  to  build  a  genuine  friendship  with  would  kick  him  to  the  curb  .  but  for  now  . . .  they'd  be  fine  . . .  right  ?           (       zeppelin  always  one  to  dwell  on  the  negatives  ,     )         even  if  he  was  in  the  clear  .  he'd  still  find  a  way  to  let  things  build  up  in  his  head  .        ❛     it's  just  so  much  attention  ,  you  know  ?  i  feel  like  all  eyes  are  on  us  and  our  class  . . .  ten  years  ,  man  . . .  it's  been  ten  years  and  it  still  feels  like  it  happened  yesterday  .      ❜          zeppelin  went  on  ,  one  of  the  𝐑𝐀𝐑𝐄  moments  he  brought  up  the  past  with  malcolm  .  what  better  time  than  now  when  things  were  seemingly  starting  to  bubble  over  with  an  𝐔𝐍𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖𝐍  mystery  ?
