the words are a SMACK, hard against him, enough to make him flinch back. arms wrap around his stomach as if he’s been punched, the truth hurting far worse than he had ever thought they would. slowly he drags air into his lungs, though through their burning he’s not sure he can tolerate breathing too much. closing his eyes he forces himself to relax, forces himself to calm, but he can’t. there’s nothing but PAIN ripping through him, ripping at his chest as if attempting to get to his heart.

if breaking his heart was Saeran’s plan? ( success )

yet it doesn’t stop him, it doesn’t slow the boy down. INSTEAD he hardens himself, eyes darkening as the anger comes to soothe the pain. “Me? All I did was fuck up YOUR life?” the words come at a low level, dangerously so. “what did I do to you? ANSWER ME.” his tone escalates. “What did I do for YOU to BLIND ME? How did that fuck up your life?” he comes closer. “I. Want. Answers. Now.”

he watches the other quietly, takes him in from where he’s nestled into his bed, tilting his head slowly as he listens to the words he speaks. “you don’t have to sleep if you don’t want to,” he chooses his words carefully, allows the other perhaps too much freedom yet he’s never truly been one to deny anyone anything. he’s always taken the burden, always vowed to do better when anyone is hurt - make people happy, that’s what Rika did, and people doing what they want will make them happy. he takes a deep breath before then shifting, crawling out of bed. “I always thought sleep was for the weak, you know,” he attempts to laugh though it comes out much more nervous than he had intended. “so if you don’t want to sleep, we don’t have to.”

“you didn’t always think that,” the words are soft as he reaches out and touches his shoulder, allowing the hand to slowly move over his back as he takes him in. this entire idea, these emotions are new, they’re terrifying - yet he accepts them without a second thought, touches the other when he thinks he needs it. “and even if there isn’t - you aren’t conquered.” bright yet soft he encourages the other, watching him as he allows a small smile to creep over his face.

“I wasn’t attempt to flatter you; I genuinely meant it.” the words are soft as he takes in the other before crossing to sit near him (yet out of harm’s way) and folds his legs up. “You don’t have to trust me, Saeran, but I don’t compliment people without truly meaning it.”
