Having just regained their composure from the screaming voices that the Gamemakers had inflicted upon the alliance, Arland, Nessarose, and Kyera rested along the river before moving back towards the bridge. The alliance of Malia and Elias stood poised at the edge of the forest. Both of them dripping wet and exhausted once more from the long walk that at this point. Elias opened his mouth to ask Malia if she was ready to move on when Malia raised her hand to hush him. Giving her a questioning look, Malia pointed towards the area before them where three voices could be heard “someone is coming.” she finally whisper to Elias. Biting her lip Malia began to take step away but Elias stopped her with his hand. Making a face the young girl tried to convinced her partner to just make a run for it but Elias knew that even if they ran they wouldn’t go far before running into someone else.
Before Malia could say anything else Elias had already grabbed his weapons and disappeared; hiding himself from the vision of anyone else. The trees around them acting as a shield to him. Shaking Malia stood there until the alliance of three stood right before her. She didn’t have to pretend to be scare because she was; the idea of killing churning up her stomach. She looked like she was about to throw up. All three tributes took in the sight of the frighten girl covered in scratches. They all knew her and as far as they all knew she was alone and didn’t present a threat. But they were wrong.
“Malia?” Nessa and Kyera asked in unison. They knew the smart thing to do was put the young girl before their eyes out of her misery but they too had just gotten out of their own little battle. Just like Malia and Elias they also just wanted to crash and try to forget about where they were. “Are you alone?” Nessa added and Malia nodded as she wonder if Elias had truly just left her behind. The alliance of three looked at each other thinking that maybe they would just part ways and pretend this encounter never happened when they heard a loud grunt from Kyera before she dropped to the floor, unconscious. Kyera and Arland spun around to come face to face with Elias, who was holding a trident, which he had used to knock out Kyera. Now the battle field was even.
Nessa and Arland finally realize what was happening; the only way to get out of that forest was to kill both Malia and Elias. But the other duo had the same thoughts. Both of the alliances were so closed to getting out that arena and back to their homes. All they had to do was kill. But it was easier said than done.
Nessa first off felt betrayed that Elias and Malia would come after them. She had met them in the Capitol, and had hit it off with them. But if they wanted to fight, so be it. Nessa will bring her all, that’s for sure. Nobody comes after her and the people she cares about without getting seriously fucked up in the process. All feelings of any sort of kindness towards the two quickly dissipated within her. Now the only thing she felt was anger towards them. Nessa clenched her axe as she turned towards Malia. Clenching her teeth Malia let her whip unravel, her knife at the ready in her boot. The idea of killing still twisted knots in Malia stomach but she wouldn’t go down without a fight; that’s not how she was raised and neither was Nessa. But Nessa believed that Malia couldn’t fight from their training session together; she bet the only reason she even survived this long was because she was with Elias. With one last look at each other both girls charged at each other.
The girl from nine swung her axe towards Malia but her small stature allowed her to dodge it easily. Swinging her whip down on her arm, Nessa let out a small gasp at the sudden pain that shot through her arm almost causing her to lose her axe. Once more Nessa charged at Malia and this time Malia wasn’t fast enough. The axe dugged deep into her side eliciting a whimper from her. Taking this small distraction to her advantage Nessa tackle Malia to the ground knowing that physical fighting was not Malias forte. But that didn’t stop Malia from trying to get out of her grip. Malia moved around, trying to somehow knock off Nessa off her but the girl from nine acted quick and pinned Malias arm down with her knees. Lifting her axe up she looked down at the half-frighten girl before bringing her axe down to end her life but Malia quickly moved her head to the side causing the axe to chop off her ear. A loud scream of pain echoed in the forest but was quickly shut up when Nessa hit Malia in the face with the end of her axe. Blood began to pile around Malia face not only from the side of her head but from her nose and mouth. Piling up all the blood in her mouth Malia used the strength she had to spit it into Nessa eyes, blinding her temporarily before head-butting hard that she, herself, got a headache. Shoving her away Malia took out her trench knife, blood still coursing down the side of her face.
Her parents had always taught her to survive and the words she had spoken in the interview came true; now that she was facing death, her true instincts came out. With only survival in her mind Malia charged at Nessa who was still wiping the blood off her eyes and without even thinking twice plunged her knife into her stomach, twisting it inside her before pulling it out harshly. Putting pressure on her new wound Nessa took out one of her knifes and threw it towards Malia. Once more she wasn’t fast enough and the knife hit her left shoulder blade, causing her to groan as she took it out. Nessa didn’t waste a second before she was already throwing her second knife, this time Malia was prepare and she dodge it but not without slipping on her own two feet and landing on the rocky ground. Still holding onto her bleeding stomach Nessa approached Malia. Thinking fast the girl from twelve tighten her hold on her whip and swung it towards Nessas ankles. The whip wrapped around her ankle and using all the strength she could muster she jank it, putting Nessa on the floor along with her. Both girls were now weaken and it was anyone game. Malia stood up once more ready to end this fight and get the hell out of that forest. Once she was in a good range of Nessa Malia kicked her in the face, a crack heard as blood began to pour down Nessa face. Kicking the axe away from her Malia closed her eyes and continue to kick Nessa face as she didn’t want to see what she was doing. The blood around Nessa grew as well and she was about to give up when she felt the syringe filled with tracker jacker venom in her pocket. Taking it out she pushed herself up and plunged the syringe into Malia unsuspected leg. Malias eyes shot open but it was already too late, Nessa was already injecting the venom into her body. Malia kicked her one more time before taking a step back, dizziness overcoming her. The venom of the tracker jacker coursing through her veins. Pushing herself up Nessa once more tackled her to the ground, Malia too dizzy to fight back as Nessa repeatedly punched her as she was now weaponless. The venom inside Malias body eventually began to target her brain and every fear she ever had in her life, and every nightmare she had in the last two days came to life. Now the person in front of her was no longer Nessa but a dark shadow telling her she was a killer.
Back with Elias, who was having a battle of his own. Arland wasn’t stupid; a fight between a career that had three weapons on him when the only thing he had was quarterstaff on him was stupid. Probably suicidal. But with Kyera laying on the floor unconscious and Nessa deep in a brutal fight with Malia he had no other choice.
While Arland looked like he was ready to puke himself or run away Elias looked bloodthirsty. It had been days since he had killed those two little kids in the bloodbath and he had been craving to spill some more. To prove he was worth it but both tributes had a family to go back to. Arland had a baby coming its way and Elias a family he still had to provide food to. Both were not going to go down without a fight. Making sure Malia was fine Elias focused his sight on Arland and without a moment’s hesitation swung his dao sabre towards him. Arland flinching, deflected the attack with his quarterstaff. Grunting Elias attacked again but with each swing he made, Arland blocked it with his own weapon. Finally Elias had enough and with one good kick he pushed Arland to the ground and got on top of him. Before Arland could react Elias fist was already punching him in the face. But he wasn’t planning to end his life so soon; in fact Elias wanted to play a little due that he hadn’t spilled blood in so long.
But with his family in mind Arland fought back. Seeing the fallen knife that had been intended for Malia on the floor he reached for it. Grasping it tightly he plunged it into Elias back, making him grunt as he tried to not show any pain. Seeing the result, Arland head butted him, forcing Elias off him. Grabbing the trident Elias had dropped to the floor and with his newly found knife Arland stood poised, waiting for Elias to attack once more. Which didn’t take long: Elias charged at him once more with his dao sabre in hand and swung at him. This time Arland was prepare for this and twirled away from striking range, the knife in his hand plunged into Elias side again but this time the boy from five didn’t just stab him, he ripped open his side, making Elias buckle slightly. With each stab Elias got he grew even more infuriated and eventually he decided that it was time to end this.
Turning around to him he attacked again with his sabre and Arland continue to block his blows with his own quarterstaff. When the career was finally close enough he tangled his legs with the boy from five causing both of them to fall to the ground. Once Elias was on top of him again he knocked the weapons in his hands out of the way. Arland began to claw at Elias face as he couldn’t do anything else but Elias just flung his hands away. As a last resort Arland bite deep into the hand that was holding him down, until he tasted blood. This time Elias was caught off guard he let out a scream. Taking out the arrow heads they had gotten from the borrowers Elias stuck them into Arland eyes, blinding him. Another scream was elicited from his lips.
Seeing Kyera’s fallen knives, Elias grabbed two of them. Placing Arland hands above his head he stab each hand with a knife, pinning him down to the ground. This eliciting a scream from Arland. Standing up, Elias wiped his brow looking down at the scared boy who was immobilized. What he didn’t know was that Kyera’s knife had been coated with the same venom that was coursing through Malias veins; tracker jacker venom. Slowly Arland started hallucinating but he couldn’t get up from the ground due that he was pinned down by the knives. The frustration inside Arland grew that he let out a scream.
“I have to hand it to you; you put up a fight for someone who got a five.” Elias said out of breathe as he grabbed his dao sabre off the ground and went to stood beside the flailing, scared boy. Now that Arland couldn’t fight back Elias decided to keep him alive for a little longer.Just like Nessa had done with Malia Elias chopped off each of Arland ears, causing him to scream even more from the pain. Walking around him the boy from one crouched down and began to chop of each finger of his hand until all that was left was his palm. By now Arland throat was sore from all the screaming but the pain didn’t stop there. “you know I’m getting really tired of your screaming.” Elias said through his teeth as he began to search his pack. Taking out the needle and thread, he prepare it before getting on top of the struggling boy. Without even bothering to be careful Elias began to sew his lips together. Blood pouring down his mouth due to how harshly he was doing it. Moments later, Arland lips were sew together; now he was earless, blind and couldn’t scream even if he wanted. The venom making him even more weak. Grabbing his dao Elias stab him in the stomach and just like Arland had done he ripped his stomach open until his insides could be seen. With no remorse he grabbed his intestines and ripped them out. Through his sewn mouth Arland let out a bloody whimper as he began to die. Having pity on him Elias slit his throat with one flick of his hand; the second cannon booming in the distance. Putting him out of his misery.
“You killed that poor little girl. You’re the reason Roman is gone.”the shadow said to her and Malia whimpered under the hold of Nessa. Her head rapidly shaking. “Fay probably had a family to go back to. Roman—now he will never get married to the love of his life. All because of you. All because an insolent little girl thought she was worth more than them.” the dark shadow continue to taunt Malia whose whimpers just grew and she continue to shake her head. Making it harder for Nessa to punch her. Her fear of shadows and guilt mixed together was pushing her to the edge but then the shadow added. “You can’t even make your family proud. You’re a shame to them. To everyone. You’re nothing.” and that’s when Malia finally lost it. The tears in her face stop and she looked up at Nessa or the Shadow as she was seeing. “NO!” she shouted before brutally shoving Nessa off her. Grabbing her trench knife she tackled Nessa to the ground and began to stab her repeatedly all over her chest and face. No remorse, no guilt was anywhere on her face. Just plain bloodthirst and survival. She had to get away from that shadow in her hallucinations therefore Malia continue to stab her, whispering under her breathe. “I didn’t kill them. I’m not a disappointment.” over and over she told herself those words as she continue to stab her. Even after Nessa cannon finally boomed in the distance Malia kept stabbing Nessa face until it no longer looked like one.
By the time Elias was done with Arland, Malia was still stabbing Nessa bloody face; the venom slowly wearing off her but she was so into her hallucinations that Malia didn’t notice Kyera waking up. Holding her head Kyera looked around a bit disorientated from being knocked out but slowly everything began to process in her mind; the dead bodies of her fellow allies. Her eyes landed on Malia that was still repeatedly stabbing Nessa. With a small whimper she grabbed her last knife and her trench knife before rushing towards Nessa not knowing if she was dead or not. She just knew she had to get Malia off her.
Elias seeing all this rushed towards Malia and right as Kyera was raising her arm to bring down her knife down on Malia, Elias grabbed her by her shoulders and slammed her down to the floor brutally. “Now it’s just you, seven. Nobody to come and help you. Time to give up, you have no chance of survival anyway. Just another victim of the games,” Elias taunted.
At first, Kyera was nervous and scared, not wanting to be killed. However, the taunting from Elias made something snap inside of Kyera. There was a familiarity to the words she was hearing. It was like her mother was standing here before her, telling her how much of a failure she was, how worthless she was compared to Willow. You are not better than your sister. You will fail. There is no hope for you, anyway.
Rage boiled up inside her as she lashed out. She clenched her fist, fighting back tears. “I AM NOT A VICTIM. I CAN PROVE MYSELF TO YOU, TO EVERYONE, TO MY MOTHER!” With a new sense of empowerment and rage, Kyera screamed as she plunged her knife into Elias’ collarbone. Repeating the motion, she stabbed at the Career, but in her mind, she saw not Elias, but instead, she saw the mother who oppressed her for years.
Seething with rage, and in pain, Elias stabbed at Kyera with his trident, opening up gashes in her leg right, but they weren’t very deep. It was clear that Elias’ performance was being hindered by the venom. He just didn’t know it yet. Kyera screamed as she pulled her trench knife out, hobbling. And then the hallucinogenic part of the venom set in. Perfect timing. He felt woozy, dizzy as the world around him began to spin, change colors, and become filled with strange things. Dazed for a moment, Kyera decided to take this opportunity.
Kyera jabbed at his abdomen with her knife, attempting to push him into the river while he was weak from all his injuries and the venom. As she did this, Elias groped for anything that would keep him on his feet, or anything that would bring about harm to Kyera. He flailed his whip at the arm in which Kyera held her taser, sending it skidding onto the ground. Delivering a sharp punch to Kyera’s gut, he forced her to to the ground. He punched the side of her face and then kicked at her moments later. Elias held his trident, poised over Kyera’s head as she struggled to catch her breath. Tears began to well up in her eyes. This was it. She was about to die.
Doing the only thing that felt natural to him he stab Kyera through the stomach. The prongs of the trident sticking out the other end that Malia gasped when she saw them. Kyera sucked in the air as she felt great pain all over her body. Looking down she saw the prongs of the trident sticking out of her stomach. Placing her shaking hands on the trident Kyera looked at Malia feeling betrayed, tears beginning to fall down her face. Blood pouring out of her mouth already as her internal organs were punctured even more due that Elias was moving the trident. One wrong move and she could be dead.
“Malia get me that net.” Elias said as he grabbed his own whip and began to move towards the tree with Kyera still forked to the trident. Once he was near the tree he took out the trident from inside Kyera who fell to the floor and just for safe measures, Elias moved in front of her and kicked her as hard as he could in the stomach. Making Kyera curl up into a small ball.
Elias grabbed Kyera and pushed her against the tree, elbowing her in her face when she tried to fight back. Her face was now covered in blood. Using the whip as a rope he tied it around the tree and when he got the net from Malia he ripped it up until he could use it as a rope as well. Moments later Kyera was tied up against the tree. “are you going to leave me here?”she weakly asked her watery eyes going towards Malia who was on the floor rocking, still slightly under the influence of the venom. Elias shook his head, a smirk on his face. “I’m not that merciful.”
With those words Elias dug in his pack and got out the book of matches and began to place a few twigs and dried leaves around Kyeras feet. When he felt that it was enough he struck a match, and stood before Kyera who had her eyes wide open, tears spilling out of them. Without saying a single word he dropped the match into the piles of twigs, striking another match he threw it into the pile and another until a fire was building right under the girsl feet. Backing away he began to get their items, the screams of Kyera the only soundtrack of the day as she was being burned alive. Grabbing the rocking Malia, Elias rushed out of the forest and towards the river. The flames spreading and engulfing Kyera’s body until the third cannon was heard in the distance.
The alliance was feeling well-rested after the excitement of the Cornucopia. With most of the tributes spread out by now across the arena, Elias, Roman, and Malia felt some sort of safety, as much as you can in the Hunger Games, while remaining where the Bloodbath had occurred. However, Elias, typical Career, was already craving some blood.
“There’s no way we’re the only smart ones who stayed close to the Cornucopia,” Elias said, trying to convince his alliance to hunt. Malia didn’t feel comfortable with that notion, though she understood where Elias was coming from. Born and raised as a Career, he needed to get some action on his hands. And Roman who hadn’t been able to kill during the bloodbath was even more eager to finally prove himself.
“Come on,” Elias urged, noticing Malia’s discomfort and reluctance. “I’ll keep you safe,” he added softly. With much hesitation, this statement was enough to convince Malia to go. A smirk emerged on Elias’ lips. “And I’ve found the perfect victim,” he said maliciously. Elias had noticed the young girl from Five running north and with two young kills under his belt, he wanted to add a third. Mercy killings, he’d think they were, saving these children from the pain of a gruesome death at the hands of other tributes.
With Elias’ guidance, the alliance of three approached the entrance of the ballroom. Peeking in, Elias checked to see if his intended target rested inside. Fay’s small silhouette could be seen from where they stood and the career’s excitement grew.
“Well?” Roman asked impatiently. A nod from Elias confirmed their suspicions, but Malia bit her lip, still wanting to leave.
“Just stay behind, okay? We’ll get out of this just fine,” Elias smiled, placing a soft kiss on Malia’s head. Malia smiled weakly and nodded, putting her trust in the boy. Elias and Roman meet eyes and they began planning their attack.
Not wanting to wake the girl up, the trio snuck in; Roman lining himself against the wall to the right of the entrance and Malia and Elias headed toward the left. From above, chandeliers hung elegantly with beams of natural sunlight refracting off of them, high above the resting child’s head. Their plan was to utilize the element of surprise while sending a formidable blow.
Both careers led the way towards Fay as Malia trailed behind them who still had second thoughts about killing someone in their sleep. Roman and Elias looked at each other and when Elias gave him the signal, the boy from Four threw the net over the small girl curled up on the floor.
Fay was jolted awake from her nap, suddenly realizing that she had made one of the most stupid and fatal mistakes of the Games. While she had hidden herself in the shadows, she hadn’t set a trap to protect her while she slept. Fuck. Fay found herself constrained and limited in movement. Thinking fast, she grabbed the knife she had used to cut the apple to cut through the net. While she tried to free herself as quickly as possible, the Careers readied themselves to attack. Shooting up to her feet immediately, Fay was taken back by the sight of two careers right in front of her, but unafraid at the same time. Victors didn’t cower in the corner. And she was going to become a victor if it killed her. She was angry that these two were trying to intimidate her.
“Rise and shine, sleeping beauty,” Roman greeted her in his most charming voice as he twirled the trident in his hand. “I call dibs on this one,” he stated as he looked at Elias.
Chuckling Elias replied, “but I want to play too.” returning his eyesight back to Fay. Roman shook his head slowly. They were taking their time, almost as if they were playing around with her.
“You got your kills already. It’s my turn. Besides, she ruined a perfectly good net,” he finally stated before raising his trident but before he could make another move Fay had used her small stature to her advantage and slipped between them knowing she couldn’t defend herself from a corner. But she came to a halt when her path was blocked by Malia who stood shaking but firm.
“Come on Princess, grab your weapon of choice, we shall dance.” Roman stated with a chuckle, noticing the great amount of weapons she had on her. Weapons he wanted for himself. Fay glared at her enemies, pissed that she would have to put herself in danger so soon after the Bloodbath. But with both her whip and her trench knife in her possession, she was determined to get out of this fight alive.
“What’ll it be?” she sneered. “Who wants to have a piece of me first?” she smirked. Rising up to the challenge, Roman stepped forward with his trident at the ready. “Come on. Less talking and more dancing.” Roman added impatiently with a grin, already wanting her blood to be spilled. With a running start, Roman raised his trident and sprung forward, thrusting the tips toward the small girl’s chest. Due to her small and agile build, she was able to barely dodge the attack and send a kick toward the boy’s wrist. A grunt escaped his lips as he quickly regained his stance before he attacked again. With each thrust of the trident, Fay managed to dodge that onslaught of attacks, jumping from side to side.
“Come on, Roman,” Elias taunted with a smile. “She’s just a girl.” Roman grunted and smirked.
“I’m just getting warmed up,” he announced as he struck the trident into the girl’s side. Fay fell to the ground from the attack, a bit of blood beginning to stain her clothing. With a satisfied smirk, Roman approached the girl, trident poised at her neck. Anger etched across her face, she needed to come up with a plan and fast. Surveying her surroundings, she noted the girl to the side who looked awfully uncomfortable and nervous. With a malicious grin, Fay scooted backward away from the trident which pierced the ground and rolled to the side. In one swift movement, she threw her whip toward the unsuspecting Malia.
Having seen the attack coming, Elias moved in front of Malia and blocked the whip with his sabre. “Nobody touches Malia,” he said angrily through gritted teeth. Fay ignored the threat and took on the new opponent, whipping at Elias’ arm as he tried to deflect each attack. Fay remembered just a couple of hours ago when she had seen Elias kill not one, but two twelve-year-old children during the Bloodbath at the Cornucopia. So he was aiming for the young ones first, eh?
“Really aiming high there, aren’t ya?” she yelled. “Bullying a defenseless 13-year-old three-on-one after killing two 12-year-olds?” Seeing his alliance under attack, Roman ran toward the action and thrust the trident toward the girl once more, twisting the spears into her injured side, creating a wound with an opening through the front to the back.
A scream of pain escaped the young girl’s lips as she fell to the floor. She would not give up so easily. Roman and Elias positioned themselves in front of Malia who was pressed against the wall. They seemed a little uneasy with each other, as if they maybe weren’t the best of friends.
“You gonna get your boyfriend to help you out there?” Fay snapped. “Bet you guys will have a nice makeout session after you’re done with me, huh?” Angry, Fay pushed herself up, trying to put pressure on her wound. The smartest move now would be to try to escape. Her eyes glance at the door that was a bit far away and could easily be blocked by the alliance. However, at this point, taking on all three of them wouldn’t be a smart decision, and in one swift movement, she picked up her items and tried to make a dash for the door.
“Stop her” Elias shouted to Roman but Roman didn’t have to be told twice before he was already running after the small girl. Fay was fast but Roman’s long legs eventually gave him the upper hand and he tackled the small girl to the floor. Pinning her arms to the floor, Fay let out a small growl that was only met by a loud laugh from Roman that echoed the room. “leaving so soon? we were just beginning to have fun. Plus, do you really think you can escape from me.” Now that Fay was weaponless she used the only the only thing she could; her teeth. Sinking her teeth deep into Roman’s arm that was holding her down until she tasted blood. Roman let out a small scream and Fay used this distraction to get out of his hold. Shooting to her feet she ran to the knife that she had dropped, knowing that she could do little with the whip and the rest of her weapons were in her bag. Turning around, crouched low she snapped back. “that’s rich, coming from a career that got a six” By now she was seething with anger. Not only was she injured but her sleep had just been taken away from her.
“Don’t be such a sour little thing. Come on, give me this one last dance.” he cooed as he took out his dao sabre. “You’re just a pathetic, weak little girl,” he spat. “Just try to kill me.”
She stood there a second, raising an eyebrow, and smiled. “Gladly.” Shooting daggers at him, Fay clenched to her own knife. She had killed before, she could kill again. Immediately, she threw the axe toward his head and grabbed her whip as she heard the thunk of the heavy handle crashing against his face and breaking his nose. She ran around to his back- avoiding his arm reach- and forcefully drove his face forward into some broken glass one the floor. His screams wailed through the ballroom as she punctured his eyes on the sharp edges.. He threw his head back, grabbing her left wrist and guiding her towards the broken glass that she had just blinded him with, but she still had her knife in hand, which she plunged into his arm. Before he released her, he drove her hand into the glass, puncturing the flesh and releasing a loud scream from the young girl. Roman winced in response, holding the hand of his injured arm up to his ear to protect from the loud shriek.
Back against the wall Malia eyes roamed the room, scared out of her wits, but she had seen how both of them had protected her. The least she could do was return the favor somehow and that’s when her eyes landed on the chandeliers hanging from the already-crumbling-ceiling—right above the fight between Roman and Fay. The wheels in her brain began to rapidly spin as she began to come up with a plan of her own because it was clear that as long as Fay had mobility in her, she wasn’t going to stop trying to get out of here alive.
“Elias, the chandelier. What if we drop it on her?”Malia finally spoke, her eyes wide with wonder as well with fear. She hated the idea of killing someone, it made her sick to the stomach but she had to do something for Roman. Elias looked at the chandelier and back at Malia, not understanding how she was planning on pulling it off. “How? That thing is high off the ground.”
The girl from twelve rapidly shook her head as she took a step forward. “No. This seems like an old castle and usually chandeliers back then, were attached to a rope. Cut the rope, the chandelier falls,” she explained as calmly as she could as she watched Roman get injured.
Elias eyes went wide open as he realize what Malia was trying to say. “You think you can find it?”
Malia nodded; she had read enough fairy tale books and historical books to have an idea where it was. Plus from where she stood she could see where its anchor laid. Without a moment’s hesitation she sprinted off towards the rope that held the huge chandelier, hanging above Roman and Fay, down. Searching around, Malia was able to find the rope which was already begin to give up in certain places. It was just a matter of time before it would snap on its own.
Roman was fighting for his life with what strength remained in him now, grabbing for any hold he could get on her, but Fay ducked his flailing arms, feeling a couple quick slaps in the face and a blind reach for her hair that she evaded. She stabbed her knife into his abdomen several times. With each stab he kicked back with force, still pumped with adrenaline, pushing Fay to the ground several times, but she got back up to finish the job. He wasn’t going to get the best of her now and she had just as much adrenaline rushing through her tiny body as he did. She lashed out with the knife more and more, finally feeling the puncture of several organs, and Roman fell back, unable to breathe through the holes in his lungs.
“Here’s what you get for underestimating the little guys,” she said softly. His cannon sounded in the distance. She sat panting for a second, shaking her hand from the pain of the glass cuts, before hearing a deep, throaty scream of rage coming from the other side of the room.
“Malia, now!” Elias shouted to his partner after hearing Roman’s cannon. Fay tried to move but the amount of weapons she was holding in her pack and the fatal injuries she had slowed her down enough that before anyone knew it the chandelier came crashing down on her the moment Malia cut the rope with her own knife.
The chandelier landed, a deadly impact on Fay’s almost lifeless body. Malia was already running towards Elias. “We have to get out. The roof may collapse any minute.” she stated, fear kicking in to her once more.
They finally heard the boom, she’s officially one of the fallen. Malia tugged on Elias’ hand and begged to get out of the ballroom, leaving Fay’s dead body buried beneath the remains of the chandelier. They exited, just in time before the ballroom turned into rubble behind them. Malia still felt unsure about the tribute she helped kill, and felt bad at the loss of her partner. They had supplies and more weapons now. The pair headed back to their base camp, with a much needed rest and hopes of more brutal massacres in the morning.
Caesar: We're almost done, but we've got two more tributes to speak to. Lets make some noise for our last, darling female, ladies and gentleman, Malia Augustine! *crowd cheers*
Malia: *walks on stage, a bright smile on her face showing that she clearly loves the crowds. Waving happily at them she returns her attention to Caesar, the smile on her face never faltering even as she takes her seat* It’s really great seeing you in person, Caesar! I have to admit, you look so much better in person. Not saying you don’t look good through the screen! You look good from every angel though I have question; do you just randomly pick the color for your hair or..?Also, fun fact, you and my father have the same name! Sorry, am I talking too much? *she laughs nervously*
Caesar: Oh my my, looks like we have a chatterbox on our hands. *laughs* Little nervous, Malia? *smiles* Don't be, now I believe I ask the questions here, huh? *crowd laughs* Thank you for the lovely compliment, but I must say dear, tonight it's you that looks stunning. I love your dress!

It had been a long few days and I'd been experiencing mind-splitting headaches as of late. I suffered through important meetings and watched over the tributes in the training center as required, but not without wishing I could just be lying in bed instead. So imagine my surprise when the pain melted away on its own on the third day of training. Having heard that most of the tributes were actually being well behaved this year, I went for a stroll to see if this was true. From my perch, I hadn't seen much go down, a few skirmishes, but nothing heavy. Perhaps they'd all learned from Pachenko's mistake.
"Ma'am," a lifeguard called out to me as he sped my way.
"What is it?"
"Two girls are... in the pool... they're..." He was all aflutter, which only meant one thing.
"Thank you," I waved the boy off as I strutted over only to find the pool recently abandoned. "Who the fuck had been here doing what exactly? At least it was 2 girls, that way I wouldn't have to worry about extra swimmers in the pool. Disgusted, I walked away only to hear the alluring sound of birds chirping inside the forest biome. I hadn't been inside since Gwen and I finalized it's completion and inspected it. Pulling my back into a ponytail, I walked in for a short hike in my heels.
Pausing by the first tribute I ran across, I stopped my forward momentum and inspected their work. "It'll never hold that way," I warned the small brunette. "Collapse on you as soon as you crawl inside."
Caesar: Okay folks, we're almost done! Just one more District to go.
Claudius: I can't believe it's over!
Caesar: Don't worry Claudius, we don't have to say goodbye just yet! Oh look, here they come! District Twelve! Pachenko Gilles and his beautiful partner, Malia Augustine!
Claudius: And look at those costumes Caesar! Covered a coal and lit ablaze!
Caesar: It almost looks as if the flames are forming into wings! And turning the coal into diamonds! How magnificent!
Claudius: They look like a couple of birds out there! And look at Malia's smile!
Caesar: Phoenixes, I believe. I remarkable creature! Their designers have really done it this year Claudius.
Claudius: I have to agree. Though, Pachenko doesn't look as nearly as happy as his partner does. He looks grumpy even.
Caesar: A bit shy maybe? Malia needs to teach him how to work the crowd! *laughs*
Claudius: She certainly does Caesar! Well, it looks like everyone has arrived! It's time for the President's famous speech- oh wait. What is happening here?
Caesar: Has Pachenko gotten off his chariot?
Claudius: It looks that way...he looks angry. What is he doing?
Caesar: Whatever it is, it certainly isn't making Malia very happy.
Claudius: Oh wait, he seems to be gathering the items that have been thrown to him by the crowd. Oh, how sweet.
Caesar: I don't know Claudius- oh! Oh my stars!
Claudius: He's throwing them at the President!
Pachenko: IM NOT GOOD ENOUGH HUH, IS THAT IT? WELL WHY DON’T YOU COME OUT HERE YOU UNGRATEFUL FAT BASTARD AND YOU PUT ON A FUCKING SHOW FOR EVERYONE. LET ME SEE YOU TRY THAT YOU CUNT!
Caesar: He's been hit! I- I just don't believe this, the President has been hit!
