“It’s not the fairy tale you remember."  Ash by Malinda Lo ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 is one of my fave short read YA fairy tale fantasy book. "A Cinderella retold story about the connection between life and love, and solitude and death, where transformation can come from even the deepest grief.” The prince charming is a cold fairy prince and Ash doesn’t have a fairy godmother but she have an eventual huntress friend, who is very badass btw. The writing is very enchanting and dreamy. Its a good read before bedtime or when you have insomnia. and yep its underrated but who care when it cured my reading slumped at that time. 🤷‍♀️ I got this book since 2013 its been pass around to my friends ever since and just got it back. So would totally recommend this for easy reading.

Starting off Pride Month with the OG YA LGBT+ fantasy book 🏳️‍🌈 I love the typography they used for the 10th anniversary addition of Malinda Lo’s “Ash.” And the introduction by Holly Black made it a must buy. A retelling of Cinderella, “Ash” follows the story of an orphan girl who uses her wits, courage, and a bit magic to reach her goals and learn about love. The third-person omniscient narration made it read like a fairytale, but it also kept the reader at arms-distance from the characters and understanding their emotions. While I don’t usually like like triangles, this book gripped me.
