@vislortherizzler replied to your post:
I can’t tell whether it was the Master he was thinking of because of the initial or perhaps Malkon?
the master was definitely what they were baiting with m in general (having tickets for the doctor plus two etc) but i feel like turlough saying that his m is "gone, lost" doesn't jive with the master at all? that guy's not lost, he's popping up all over the damn place. and malkon is kinda plausible except that a) turlough knew malkon by his birth name, not the one the sarns gave him b) he says "there was a man once" about his m, and malkon was a baby/child when turlough last saw him and is a child/teenager when they meet again, not a man. so i have to imagine it's someone we haven't met yet?
also of note is that turlough thinks luqos m could be his m which either indicates that they're coincidentally physically similar or ?
me: now that turlough's travelling with six post-planet of fire, it'd be really cool if we got to see malkon again/find out what he's been up to.
the 6das:
TESS: You won't get him to help you because you'd rather send a war fleet than step foot on Trion again. TURLOUGH: I can't go back. TESS: Just honour our agreement and everything goes back to where it was before. Surely it's a small price to pay, one man in return for a whole world. A second's effort to save your home, your family, everyone you ever knew.
wait @eohippuu i think you're right about vislor turlough child of divorce if we're weighing all sources equally. or at least (if the "younger brother" turlough recalls in qualia is malkon) malkon was born before turlough's mother died, so we've got divorce or turlough's father having an affair or that being accepted in trion culture or something.
now where have i heard that one before.
zakkar is...
malkon's son
turlough's unnamed older sibling(s)'s son
turlough's wife's* hypothetical sibling's son
other?
i don't go here/have a strong opinion about this
*technically we don't know if the mother of turlough's children was his wife but. yknow.
turlough and the earthlink dilemma was interesting, esp as an artifact of early dweu, but to write a story abt turlough immediately post-returning to trion and make no mention of malkon is insane to me. his whole reason for leaving (when he otherwise doesn't want to go!) is that he discovers he has a surviving family member. where is malkon. where is he.
turlough saying malkon was an infant when their father's ship crashed (seemingly too young to remember life on trion) vs malkon having "memories and strange dreams." what if malkon's having ancestral memories about tractrators bc the sarns use the lava tubes as shortcuts.
