Motho looked up from his tea, into the screen. It had gone blank for a moment, a series of numbers flashing on it before returning to the unrightful owner. Blinking, Motho tried to make sense of the numbers. Number comma number...
Discarding his mug for now, he flutters closer to the screen. He only gets a blank stare back from the bespectacled tenant, but he knew better than to think he was merely having a glitch.
“Seems one of our friends have reached out, hmm?”
A staring contest, Mothos frown met with the ever present smile. It was an unnatural smile, too wide, too thin.
“Well then maybe we should go find out.”
“>you’re willing to risk the safety of her boat on a maybe?”
“Maybe. Where was that anyway?”
“>not anywhere I left them.”
By now the bug was getting nowhere, but them?
“>Have you ever considered that if you said please I might be more agreeable?”
A hand comes to Mothos face, sliding down it. There were a few things he would like to use ‘please’ for when it came to this machine, but none were going to help at present.
“Alright. Please tell me who made the call and where they are?”
The systems shades held a loading symbol for a second, his expression pensive.
He knew the answer, Motho knew that much. The system only wanted to drag him along. He could wait, though his anxiety over his friends was getting the occasional nervous twitch out of his antenna.
“>dunno, Springearth is preeeeeetty far. I think Galacta can just fly back.”
Okay! Good news and terrible news! Motho hung before the screen, weighing his options. Surely if he could, Galacta would have flown back already. Not a lot would have kept him grounded. There was a foggy memory of feathers on the floor, but that didn’t seem to be the entire thing.
“Sailor is with him isn’t he?”
“>no idea, he may have dropped him at some point.”
“Don’t even joke about that-“
Motho turned, scowling at the front window. This is what he did. This is what the computer wanted.
“You know, it would be a terrible shame should a certain, someone, learned you left a child, Sailor no less, on a foreign planet, and that you refused to find him when he called for help.”
The displayed image never changed expression, however he seemed to lean forward a little.
He may not have much, but there was always a card the crew had against the ship.
And that was tattle tailing.
And if it meant making sure everyone got back safe, he was going to abuse the hell out of it. He never changed expression, but leaned away from the screen, regarding the bug before him.
“>and if it’s a trap you’re on your own.”
“You say it as if it should be news, or threatening.”
If he could see the eyes behind those shades, he was sure there was a glare. In any case, the engine rose from a purr to a dull growl.
However slowly, the ship was heading towards Springearth.
