One of my favorite things about travel is all the beautiful photo opportunities that come along with exploring someplace new and exciting. Compared to some of the amazing natural beauty I’ve seen in other parts of the world, my home state of Illinois, land of cornfields, political corruption, high taxes, and suburban sprawl just seems so boring sometimes. But one good thing about this pandemic is that being “stuck” at home has forced me to discover the simple beauty in my own community (and finally learn how to use aperture mode and autofocus settings). Believe it or not, this colorful field of wildflowers is only about a mile down the road from my house! Illinois, once again, I have underrated you!
