Aww, thanks!
Hephaestus: Ok, now I know my ignorance is going to show and the whole of Tumblr is going to realize how much of a dunce I am, really, but I don’t know that much about art?
I mean, obviously I studied art history in school for five years and I go to museums whenever I can, but I never… kind of explored it for myself, studied it on my own on the internet, bought art books etc. Sooo I’m going to go with a very obvious choice here: Van Gogh. His paintings just move me more than those of any other painter. I guess his sensibility just resonates better than anyone else’s with my own (and the rest of the world’s). (This was from before Doctor Who, by the way).
Also Monet. Because I like pretty things. And the pastel colours, the brush strokes, the lightening… uggh, his paitings just make me happy.
I guess my favourite art periods would have to be impressionism and post impressionism (like all people who only have a very basic knowledge of art). I saw a Toulouse-Lautrec exibition recently when I was in Wien and loved it so much I wanted to see it a second time but didn’t have the money.
I like landscapes paitings more than I like portraits though. So I also really like the Hudson River School and the Luminism style and things like that?
Also, dark things like Käthe Kollwitz and Munch so I guess German expressionism when they paint skulls? And ok, I’m gonna leave it at that bc this answer is already much longer and boring than necessary and I just had to name one actually, didn’t I?
Persephone: Teen Idle by Marina and the Diamonds. Yeah, I know, kind of obvious again! Sorryy
