At the base, Hans had sent for Felix to meet him in his office so they could talk. Felix, of course, was unaware that this was even taking place. It was natural that, when Felix finally arrived into Hans' office, and closed the door behind him, that he seemed a bit confused.
"Is something wrong, Hans?" Felix asked, stepping forward and keeping his hands clasped together behind his back.
"Nothing, Felix. I just wanted to have a talk with you," Hans returned. He smiled, in no suspicious way, and gestured in a friendly manner towards the chair in front of his desk. "Please, sit!"
Felix sat and scooted the chair forward so that he was closer to the desk. Hans pulled out his whiskey, as he usually did when entertaining someone in his office, and poured a glass for both Felix and himself.
"I simply wanted to talk to you. Just you and me, seeing as soon you will be marrying my daughter." Hans slid the glass towards Felix and picked up his own, taking the initial sip of the hard liquor.
"Alright. Well, what did you want to say?" Felix asked respectfully. Hans stared into the maple-colored liquid for a moment before into Felix's eyes.
"I just wanted to say that I am happy for you both. But..." he paused. "I also need to make sure that you're serious about marrying my daughter. And if so, know that you must take care of her as well, no, better than even I have taken care of her. She will be yours to love and to cherish." Hans watched Felix's expression, with the same detective scrutiny as he had towards his suspects, before cooling his composure. "Know that, if you ever hurt my daughter, I won't hesitate to take action and--" Hans was interrupted by Felix.
"Hans, sir," he started. "You know that I love Josephine with all of my heart. I have for a very, very long time. I promise to you, as I will promise to her when we wed, that I will take care of her no matter what. I could never hurt Josephine and you know that."
Hans watched the man in front of him, studying his features, his expression, the way he sat, the way he spoke, every little detail he could mark in his mind, he made that mark. Finally, Hans sat back in his chair with a grin and nodded.
"Very well, Felix. I trust you. And I trust that you will take care of my little Dot the way she deserves." He nodded once and crossed one leg over the other. "You are dismissed."
