(I hope it's okay if I butt in?) I'm pretty sure No Man's Land is the closest resemblance he's had to a cult and that's where Nina @fearmeister first got the idea for our total revamp of The Strawmen, but she and I are the only "writers" who have ever portrayed Scarecrow as being an actual factual cult leader, so I guess The Straw Men are a fanon thing? If you could call it that when you me and Nina are the only people who know/talk about them LOL
Important differentiation: The Strawmen = canon for about 6 pages of comic history; Scarecrow's two goons Otto & Raymond, from a 70s one-off comic The Straw Men = mine & nina's hella retcon that turned them into a cult of 12 young adults who faked their deaths and have been taken so far from the original Strawmen that the only resemblance they still have to the canon is having two former students of Scarecrow named Otto & Raymond
thank you!!! my friend showed me the straw men comic years and years ago because she’d found it at a comic shop but we were at a party when she showed me so i only skimmed it and i haven’t looked at it since rip
so yeah @ anon: scarecrow has not canonly had a cult but the various headcanons about him having a cult are rooted in actual canon characters/arcs. sorry for any confusion and i apologize for not being able to clarify better myself djghfdjk
