— oh , is that a genuine smile ? directed at him ? gross . disgusting . joshua makes a face like he’s smelled curdled milk as he retreats into his shoulders slightly . that face plus the offer of aid really doesn’t butter his seanwich . “ i don’t need your help , you know . ” cue his brain hiding the complexes and identity issues under a rug .
“ music helps me well enough . ” more than manuel likely knows-- he’s probably thinking josh means consuming music , but he’s talking more about creating it . it’s the only therapy he thinks he needs . “ i don’t need to ‘ talk about my feelings ’ to someone when i can write it down . ” while not many know of his singing identity , it’s not like he doesn’t let people know he composes . most people are too stupid to connect the few dots he’s given . manuel is , more than likely , no different .
