i spent march indulging in my favourite activity of torturing marinette in fics, specifically through making manynette fics (fics where there's at least one extra marinette). i wrote seven of them, and they're all collected into my manynette series on ao3. which is over 130k words long (there are also two older fics from 2023 in there)

asphyxiate - rated T. heavy angst, no relationship. suicidal thoughts, body horror, nightmares, self hatred. || marinette has a dream about a monster with her face, who details all her failures. [831 words]
antagonist - rated T. comedy, lilanette. crack, love/hate relationship, trans (side) characters. || lila decides to change her legal name to marinette dupain-cheng in order to frame marinette for various crimes. others start to follow her example. [3420 words]
anybody - rated T. angst, no relationship. hurt/comfort, sentikids, bullying, swearing, self hatred. || marinette, depressed and harangued, is shocked to find that her new classmate adrienne looks exactly like her in almost every way. it gets even worse when kagami and felicia show up, also looking the same. they try to unravel the mystery of what's happened, and the answers almost break marinette... anodyne - rated T. comedy, marinette/marinette. crack, magic, selfcest. || tikki is worried about marinette's recent behaviour, and plans to flush out the secret of what's going on - only to find marinette kissing herself on the bed. [1728 words]
anyway (sequel to anybody) - rated T. drama, marigami. developing feelings, fluffy ending, swearing, child abuse, mind control. || in the aftermath of amélie fathom's revelations, kagami ponders the question of what it means to be made in someone's image by comparing herself to marinette in every way she can imagine. but looking so closely leads her to realise some feelings she didn't know she had. [16,061 words]
affix - rated G. drama, marigami. loss of self, loneliness, developing relationship, miraculous side effects. || one little multimouse wakes up atop the tvi building after kwamibuster, confused as to what's happened. she breaks her leg when she jumps off the building and ends up being found by kagami, who nurses her back to health. [10,788 words]
and the big one:
abider - rated G. drama, marigami. loneliness, depersonalisation, child neglect, soulmates. || kagami has had marinette as a soulmate since she was nine years old. but she's been stuck in tokyo, while marinette's lived in paris. once tomoe decides to move them, kagami discovers that she's not alone in having marinette as a soulmate - and her feelings get more and more twisted as she makes new realisations about what it means to be a soulmate. [59,364 words]
if you're interested in unusual and angsty sapphic romances where every story has a twist revealing that there are too many marinettes somehow, you might find some enjoyment from these! i haven't posted any of them to tumblr before because i'm bad at self advertising, lmao.
Hey, I have a question about your "Manynette Sodium Rich Edition" fic:
There's a point where Marinette calls out Chat for comforting Chloe after she nearly caused a train where Marinette and her parents where to crash, but didn't Ladybug also comforted Chloe after she did that?
She did. Because she is someone compelled to give second chances, to have faith in the potential goodness, and as a character, is one to bottle up negative thoughts and feelings and not let them out.
At least, that's my offered in character reason.
Though how realistic that can be is debatable as this is a case of the writers having her do something that they need or want her to do, whether that's in character or not, doesn't matter to them. They wanted Chloe as Queen Bee so she needs Ladybug's ok. So that's why she comforts Chloe. Though I think she comforted her more about stealing a Miraculous than the train. That was Chat, which was not a good move.
Like, can you imagine your close friend comforting someone that nearly caused a train accident that you and your family was on? I don't think you'd be happy with that friend.
Now for the fic itself, Manynette is an akuma where all parts of Marinette is split up into pieces that are personified. They get to exist as they are. They get to do and speak as they are.
So the Manynette that is calling Chat out, Salti I believe, for comforting Chloe? That is the personified piece of negativity that Marinette keeps bottled up, only now she is out. Now she can speak. Now she can say all the things she wants to say. She can be mad. She can call out. She can criticize. She can be frustrated. She can let the hurt she feels out.
Crack manynette prompt: A raging Akuma has been turning people into Marinette for some reason and Ladybug went and hid to detransform to recharge. Chat Noir spots her.
Marinette: Kitty! Oh no this can’t be happening, not like this-
Chat Noir: M’lady…you got hit by the Akuma too??
Marinette: I-
This was such a good read!! With everything that's happened now in the show, especially Marinette becoming the Guardian, I could see this akuma happening, with the additional Manynette of Guardinette.
