At the strange man’s movements, Aideen immediately went for their lighter, ready to defend themself but.... something about this man’s behavior made them stop. Aideen wasn’t one for holding back, , but niether did they exactly want to get the police’s attention either. Still, they weren’t exactly happy to share their hiding spot with some random person.

“You do that again and I’ll singe that curly hair off.” Aideen muttered, not putting their lighter away, but not actively trying to find an opening either. That was the closest he was going to get to an ‘apology accepted’. “So, you fired something and now you’re running away.” They ignored the stealing(?) remark for now, none of Aideen’s business after all, but it could come in handy if the man tried to snitch on their hiding spot later. “How much attention did you attract? You’re acting like you’ve got Captain Thick personally on your tail.”  Which, if he did, that was going to be... problematic.

“And are you not aware that you’re looking very suspicious out here?” They returned, eyeing Maxwell carefully. “People might think you’re up to something.” Or mark him as a target, Aideen thought, but didn’t voice that; not yet, at least. Their hands were shoved in their pockets, head tilted as they continued studying the man with the flashlight, putting on an air of mild curiousity and non-concern despite the somewhat tense situation. Aideen wasn’t sure whether this man was suspicious or not, up to something or not, but people didn’t last without suspecting everything and everyone, and it was something they had taken to heart.

“Hell no,” Aideen retorted immediately. “Fear means they might snap and fight against you. Love means they’ll help even when they shouldn’t.” It was pragmatic certainly, but there was a part of them that also hoped that was true, though they would never admit it. “Though honestly,” they continued, “it’s better to be neither and stay unnoticed.”

I mean, listening to all the people going in all brave and then screaming like crazy is the best part!”Unless he wasn’t kidding and that slight... offness about how Max had spoken actually meant something. Nahhh, there was no way the big, scary, intimidating person could think haunted houses were too loud, could he? More importantly, did Aideen want to risk teasing him about it? That answer, at least, was easy.“Uh... there’s plenty of less ‘loud’ things though. Liiiike costumes?”
