#StilluceStore #Flos #MarcelWanders (presso Stilluce Store) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnzRao_I-mP/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Crochet Table, Marcel Wanders, 2002, Art Institute of Chicago: Architecture and Design
Marcel Wanders’s Crochet Table challenges the qualities associated with needlework as a non-structural, decorative embellishment. Playing off a minimalist vocabulary, Wanders took lacy, crocheted cotton and wrapped it over a simple rectangular form. The cotton was then coated with an epoxy to seal the surface and harden it into shape. Finally, the form within was removed, leaving a simple box that is structurally and solely made of the crocheted material. Restricted gift of the Architecture & Design Society Size: 30 × 60 × 30 cm (12 × 24 × 12 in.) Medium: Hand-knitted cotton and epoxy

Tableware for KLM's World Business Class (2 sets), Marcel Wanders, 2011, Art Institute of Chicago: Architecture and Design
Marcel Wanders’s tableware for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines includes utilitarian but luxurious pieces that were designed to reduce the load of the aircraft and streamline the work of the flight crew, thus resulting in lower carbon dioxide emissions and more efficient service. Most important, however, was to maintain a superior quality so that diners felt like honored guests, rather than routine passengers. Whimsical details on the fabric tray liners and flatware handles are reminiscent of traditional Dutch lace, imparting a sense of elegance and tradition to the dining experience. Most items are made of traditional materials such as crystal, porcelain, and glass, with the exception of the plastic salad bowl.
