Silence is the only thing prominent during the session; not that any other session before this was different. Yeosang was persistent on staying silent- refusing to talk about the incident that brought him here- brought him to me.
My gaze lingers on the boy in front of me.
“Yeosang, you have to talk about it at some point.“
Insistent on staying quiet, he faces the window on the cold leather chair. The only thing vibrant about him is his pink hair. His eyes void of any feeling and skin absence of colour from the lack of nutrients.
“I don’t want to be here.“ His voice so soft it barely makes a dent in the silence that filled the room. If I wasn’t trained to strain my ears to hear him I would’ve missed his comment.
“I think it’s obvious that you need to be here Yeosang.. Do you want me to explain why again? I don’t mind.“
“Not like that-“,he retorts. After speaking up his mouth clamps shut, lips pressed tight in a thin line. Yeosang gaze shift down to the floor and begins to pick at the skin around his nails.
I pause, “Here on.. Earth you mean..?“ My voice soft, fearing that if I spoke any louder he’d revert back to staying silent.
Is it guilt ?
The soft peach hair falling out of place as he nods his head,
“I need to be with her.“
I purse my lips at that response. He’s finally opening up. Not once has he even referred to her or the situation. Granted it’s only been a month since he was placed in the hospital after the trial, deemed insane.. even if the evidence made it obvious of the ,intention.
“She’s safe Yeosang.“ She was safe. Safe in intensive care at the hospital for her injuries but, Yeosang didn’t know that. He wasn’t allowed to know of her recovery. The boy thought she died that night.
His gaze hardens as it is directed towards me. “She’s alone.“
“ She’s with her loved ones. “ I counter.
The grip on my clipboard becoming tighter as I observe him huff at my response.
“Why do you need to be with her Yeosang ?“ I cross my legs and press the clipboard on my thighs.
“That’s not something you deserve to know.“
I tilt my head, a small smile growing on my face. “ Fair enough. “
“ It seems we’re out of time this evening. I’ll see you in two days, Yeosang. “
The boy stays still for a moment before getting up to leave.
“ Close the door on your way out. “ I say as I look through my notes from our sessions.
A small huff escapes his lips as he leaves my door cracked.
