Tinsel &Tine #MiniMovieReview #ScreenerReview BLOW THE MAN DOWN (writer/dir(s) Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy  Available @amazonprimevideo The film starts off moody and atmospheric with fisherman singing sad songs in a small town off the coast of Maine.  Priscilla (Sophie Lowe) and Mary Beth (Morgan Saylor) have just buried their mother Mary Margaret Connolly and it seems all the town has come for her repast; including Mary Margaret’s life long girlfriends, all now in their 70’s – Susie Gallagher (#JuneSquibb), Doreen Burke (Marceline Hugot), and Gail Maguire (Annette O’Toole).  We find out later one important old friend is absent, Enid Nora Devlin (#MargoMartindale) and the why is the crux of the story. However, the main plot involves Mary Beth, she’s the wilder, restless, unkept sister who had plans to leave the small nautical village for a college somewhere far off, but stayed a year to help her sister Priscilla take care of their dying mother. Now she’s raring to go, but Priscilla is hoping she’ll stay as she needs help at the fish market and paying the mortgage on their house, nearly in foreclosure. Mary Beth’s ambivalence as to go or stay drives her to the local watering hole, where she starts flirting with an unsavory type.  With her judgement impaired with liqueur, she leaves with him, but quickly sobers up when she finds a gun in the glove box and blood in the trunk of his car. Next thing you know, it’s a harpoon to the neck and a brick to the head.  Was the guy gonna do her harm or was he just chasing her because she started running? We’ll, never know… [Truncated]  #BlowTheManDown is laid out like a novel, very character and town driven, with secrets that go back many years; but as it’s a movie, it doesn’t have the time to pull you into everyone the way you would if it was a book or TV series, so I was left a little empty at the end.  All the elements are there, I wish I’d been able to feel more invested. DE REPENTE UMA FAMÍLIA - 2018 https://youtu.be/ssm2UwPZe6Q Nem sempre ter cuidado com um tema delicado se relaciona com o drama, a comédia na sua abrangência de amenizar certos pesos permite um assunto sério progredir levemente agregado. O diretor #seananders já tinha demonstrado afetividade e experiência em trabalhar com famílias para fazer comédia e explorar dramas de forma equilibrada e traz #markwahlberg mais uma vez para conseguir extrair espontaneidade do ator junto ao fato de suas expressividades de raiva funcionam bem mais para a tentativa de ser pai com base na história. Em parceria a ele a atriz Rose Byrne mais uma vez demonstra muita capacidade de se expor ao ridículo de um jeito engraçado e necessário para o que se quer contar, uma mãe inexperiente e bem renegada por uma família que não mede palavras de julgamento, algo que tem apoio no ambiente cômico trabalhado pelo roteiro do próprio Sean Anders. Ele coloca vetores sociais para o público, o casal gay, a mãe solteira, o casal cristão e as fases que os pais adotivos passam dignos de graça antecedida nas reuniões de acolhedores com instrutoras de adoção que tem uma dinâmica arrasadora, um toma lá da cá que se firma na seriedade e no jeito de rir dos pais, acompanhado de uma trilha #michaelandrews que na sua suavidade e injeções de ânimo intercalados visa a delicadeza nada de costume no gênero. Entre muitos pontos positivos claramente o diretor tem fetiche por finais agridoces. Assim como fez um musical no encerramento de Papai em Dose Dupla 2, aqui ele descaracteriza figuras estabelecidas apenas para tornar tudo um conto de fadas, algo que não se envolve muito com um filme baseado em fatos e foge da proposta até então de um realismo controlado para contrapor intuitivamente com o humor. Se não bastasse uma piada mais fraca ou outra para enfraquecer o roteiro, comum em qualquer obra claramente cômica, a personagem fofa e também ex machina da vovó Sandy vivida por #margomartindale ludibria bem em uma primeira vista, entretanto personaliza preguiça, da mesma forma força-se a barra no final ao inserir uma senhora atuada pela famosa atriz #joancusack para deslocar o drama, incongruente com o filme... https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs1G-elgQJW/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=150g2nwywnqft
